Whether KOC wins will depend on when the voting takes place (or maybe it already occurred ).
Minny was a great teamâŚexcept against the Lions and Rams.
I have always been a big KOC fan, in fact I still go to the, âKnights of Columbusâ, fish fry during Lent. Those old ladies always kill it on the side dishes too. Never met this COTY guy but Iâve heard good things.
His management of the 4th quarter yesterday should be an automatic disqualifier, imo.
To me itâs not just the abysmal clock management and lack of urgency. Itâs a lack of fire. He seemed resigned. Not every coach has to be MCDC, but he seemed like just a guy hiding behind a laminated play sheet with no answers. We said it a lot last night, the Lions broke this team.
This is mostly what I was meaning to say. Iâve never seen a coach seemingly pack it up like that in a playoff game. No excuse for that. 10mins left or whatever in the 4th and theyâre playing like itâs the 1st quarter when their season on the line. FFS, a TD makes it a 10 point game and theyâre slow to the line, running the ball, throwing checkdowns on purpose. It was disgusting to watch.
If I were the Vikings owner, my conversation with KOC would not be a pleasant one today. Never seen a coach quit on a team before until last night.
We easily counter Sam with a record IR Roster on defense
And Dan still kept winning
We win when everyone said we wouldnât
I canât see it logically - KOC should be KOd!
He should be out as A possoble coach of the yr now
Looked to me like he had thrown in the towelâŚway too early. He quit.
Thereâs simply a fundamental difference that I have with 3 of your premises.
- That the COTY is a âbiggest surpriseâ award instead of a best coach award.
- That exceeding poor expectations is somehow better than actual demonstrated superiority.
- That the preseason over/under on the Vikings was essentially correct, and that therefore KOC performed incredible magic.
I donât care about the odds from Vegas and wonât be âinstructedâ by them. Iâve got my own opinion no matter who ends getting the votes. Campbellâs team also beat the over/under on wins by quite a bit, he defeated KOC twice, and in fact swept the entire division - a division with an historically good record. Itâs not bias to think that coach should win.
The only choice for COY is Dan Campbell.
There wasnât a single objective metric that supported OâConnell as Coach of the Year 2 weeks ago when we had this discussion, before we played them in week 18.
We are still at that same place.
There is not a single objective metric and supports OâConnell as Coach of the Year.
Other than the biggest one that says he should have never have been 14-3 with Sam Darnold as his QB.
they played those last 10 minutes like the hostess came to the group and said their table reservation is going to be a little bit delayed
I think Dan Quinn has a better case than KOC for coach of the year. Rookie qb, 12 wins, plus a road playoff win. Much better than the last 2 embarrassing Vikes games. Wash won 5 games last year. Thatâs one heck of a turnaround.
Dan Campbell is by far winning though
Lead the NFL in turnovers
They were a paper tiger, just like the year they won a bunch of games by less than 3, against mostly inferior talent. They got exposedâŚAGAIN
And I love it!
I saw it that way too, men. I was watching that garbage and moving to a deeper and deeper state of gratitude for our coach.
I remember when I used to watch other teams and think, âthatâs what REAL NFL is supposed to look likeâ. Now I watch and think, "Our guys would murder their ass!
I personally donât see someones guess as to how many games a team is going to win prior to the season starting as an objective metric.
Itâs an internal joke. Media called him a civillian QB. Sayings heâs not a super hero.
Knowing people are giving KOC Coach of the year because he won with Darnold as his QB I thought it funny to point out Jared Goff is considered a civillian.
No we got to 15 wins despite losing our defensive leader in week 6
Along with a miriad of other injuries

Playoffs have zero to do with the award. The Vikings projected win total was 6.5. They finished with 14 wins. Of course KOC deserves coach of the year.
Did you ever consider that the Lions projected win total was higher than 6.5 because they had a better coach?
Projected win totals are not real. Just someoneâs opinion. You[re going to vote on the best coach because someone THOUGHT they werenât going to win many games?
