Any quantitative study wants at least a sample size of 100 as a baseline and would prefer 3-400. That’s why is said we would probably never know whether he’s actually good when he trades down or bad when he trades up, there’s simply no way to get enough data. We can take historical data, like “is it generally smart to trade up or trade down,” there has been enough of those overall, but that has been shown to be more or less inconclusive.

But a sample size of 6? No statistician worth his salt would make any conclusions based on such a small sample. None.

Also only one variable is the same, trade up or down.. ignoring the fact that successful players have been drafted after us in both scenarios etc. There are so many variables being disregarded and stories still being written that the idea we can boil it down to “big trade up bad” is a bit comical. Even if generally speaking he is correct so far.

Right, there is no control for any variable outside the rules of the draft.

Correct
So let’s call it a trend for now

BTW…I like the trade up idea but only if there is a DE (based on nothing else happening before the draft) that they are targeting that they can get with that later pick.

This draft is pretty deep at DE, are there any that could be targeted in the 75-90 range?

Unless tesla becomes a border line probowler, its an overpay.

And arnold is fine enough, could have taken Cooper Dejean at 29 tho.

Then taken OT DJ glaze at 73

The point is. Did brad get any value from trading up. Sacrificing an entire player to get what kind of return? I say little to none.

So if we drafted say mekhi blackmon instead of bromart or say Puka, would you have the same stance?

Tank dell, byron young, tucker kraft, puka etc instead of hooker. Same opinion?

It isnt about the trade, it is entirely about the success of the player that is selected. To boil it down to big trade ups are bad when holmes does them disregards everything else that went right or wrong in the acquisition of the player.

My point is that his player evaluations are not dependent on the trade so why are you basing your opinion so highly on it when the quality of the player is really what you are upset about.

Call me crazy but I’d sign Iffy back. He doesn’t suck, can’t be expensive and he can play safety in our scheme. He showed that. Iffy at a bargain?

Come home.

Just like JRM did.

@Jman Florida man. How’d he play in Miami?

There should be, yes, but to me it’s possible this trade up could be for Bain. I doubt he makes it past KC at 9, but he just did in DJ’s mock, so you never know.

Exactly. The act of trading up or trading down doesn’t make the evaluation any better or worse. It’s fallacious, a false correlation.

Good enough to get us a comp pick 5th round bean :beans:

Actually a great idea , I’d sign Iffy back… less than 3 mil tho

You can literally do that to any team in any draft… Derrrr could’ve drafted Tom Brady instead (insert any player in the first 198 picks)

You declared them trades that “didn’t work” and that’s hogwash… You can’t make that call a year or two into their career.

We already have 2 injured safeties… I don’t want a 3rd :joy:

I think your taking that a little out of context. We got the 5th because Iffy qualified but Iffy qualified as a 7th by the skin of his teeth. lol

I figure if we have 7 injured safeties that might equal 2 good ones bud

If not I’m willing to play. I got at least 5 months left

And by months I mean plays. :joy:
