Eagles ban fan, send Packers' gift to harassed fan

It has reliably worked for me at bars in the past? Granted with a purchased drinks. Growing up I had two friends whose ability to pick fights exceeded their abilities to win them so I had a lot of practice in that setting.

I’ve never once had an issue at a sporting event.

On a side note … damn there are lot of useless consulting firms out there.

Agreed de-escalation often works. I was a bouncer in college, and avoided a lot of brawls talking people down. Obviously you still get punched in the face once in awhile. But I don’t think the Packers fans wanted to talk anyone down…they wanted a viral video.

I have literally been to every stadium in the NFL and I see behavior like this all the time. There are just some fans who do not know how to go to a sporting event and behave in a civilized manner. I take my boys to baseball games but I have never taken them to a football game. They did, however, go to the TNF Packers game with my wife and another family. I have really grown a hatred for sports fans because of how they behave sometimes.

I have seen this exact behavior at the grocery store, on the road, at a bar, etc.

People arent great to eachother and it isnt necessarily sports fans at the crux of the conversation. Like i said in my post, i dont support what the guy said in anyway just maybe i have a lower expectation of my fellow man. I pretty much expect this kinda behavior in life generally speaking, not saying everyone just that it is more wide spread than we want to admit.

So you have seen people at grocery stores fighting about sports teams that they root for??

No but i have seen people at a grocery store shouting at eachother and calling eachother names… maybe not be obtuse and understand that the problem isnt fandom but instead disrespectful inflammatory language. Like calling someone “an ugly C***”.

That isnt unique to sports fans, how was that point lost in my post?

Absolutely. I was chanting “Jared Goff…Jared Goff” in the produce section just the other day. This Packers fan threw an apple and a bag of onions at me. I put him to sleep

If people are arguing in a grocery store it’s usually not for something as stupid as sports though. People cut in line, try to steal sure that’s a little more serious than sports. As I said I have been to every single stadium in the NFL and this happens every friggin week. I go to the grocery store just about every day and I don’t see people behaving like that. It’s few and far between at a grocery store, not so much at a football game. Can’t even compare the two.

I mean people fight in bars over sports for the same reasons they fight at stadium venues…fanatics and alcohol.

It may be more prevalent sure but the overall point is that people use insulting and inflammatory language in various settings. Says more about the people and the environment.

I just expect to run into jackasses these days, but that is just me.

Oh for sure. That’s why I always drink a bottle of whiskey before getting groceries :joy: Yolo

They do but it doesn’t compare to sporting events where it’s gonna happen every single time. It’s not gonna happen in a grocery store every single time. But at a sport venue its a guarantee.

I missed where i argued that it was the same frequency or supported sporting events… hmmm i believe all i said was people suck and i see it outside of sporting events… mmkay

The problem is you compared people’s behavior in normal settings to people’s behavior at sporting events. The two don’t compare.

Did i? Or did i simply say i have seen that behavior in those places?

The problem is you are focused on the listing of other places and want to make this about the location. I agree it is worse at sporting events.

Doesnt mean we dont have jackasses talking this way outside of sport based settings.

You know where else it’s bad? Driving. Road ragers everywhere. A lot of loose cannons on the road.

I have seen people die…doesn’t mean they were murdered. I mean you are not a serial killer for just taking just one life. So sure you have seen people act deviant…but you don’t see it every day all the time. At a football game you are guaranteed to see it.

60k+ in a confined space etc…

I have also seen great acts of humanity at a football game… since when do we stop blaming or holding people accountably for their actions?

I mean cant we get back to that vs blaming it on the environment entirely? That was my point, people do shitty things in any setting. Frequency may be lower sure, but maybe we should stop excusing behavior because of the environment or some false expectation around the way people behave at events.

60k people and i guarantee not all of them are talking to people that way
