Eagles fear they have lost N Dean for playoffs

Eagles fans are already a cesspool.

I can’t imagine what Eagles fans on reddit are like.

Ha, I know, I know. But it sort of fits our timeline, you know? And we know how Brad likes those injured boys.

Honestly they have an argument. Johnson and Sewell (and Wirfs) were easily the 3 best OL this year, but someone had to lose out. I also thought Sewell probably had his worst year in pass protection since his rookie season.

BUT, what these chuckleheads don’t realize is we’ve build a decent amount of our offense around the stuff Sewell can do at his size. NO ONE else can say that. Not even close. I’m not sure any team in history can say that. So even if Johnson may have had a (very slight) leg up as a traditional OL, the bump Sewell gets from inspiring play designs puts him way out in front.

This is why I hate offensive line stats. Every offense is different, and as such, is attacked differently.

The only OL stat I like is pancakes. Because they’re delicious.

In fairness to them, Sewell’s singular skills make him such an outlier, it’s no surprise it escapes their notice. Like, why would they go looking for something they’ve never seen before? They should, it’s their job, but they just don’t have the reference for it, it’s more or less a completely new thing. Until someone points it out to them, we’ll have to deal with this every year. Ironically the all-pro voters got it right, even though I think it might have only been a happy coincidence.

An Eagles fan that I know somehow has a very negative reaction to this mindset.

Thoughts on this everyone?

They cry when the sun comes up, and then they also cry when it goes down because it wasn’t up long enough.

Walter Jones was that way. I think Walter Jones might be the most underrated mega-stud of my lifetime.

The other thing is that the Manyweather and Thorne’s of the world are looking for pristine reps. Sewell, especially in pass pro, will take false steps, deploy less than ideal hand placement and so on but then his freakish combination of strength and movement skills allow him to overcome or recover. Sewell is likely to always have some ugly wins. At least early in his career.

Rumor is Lane put the paper up there. Reisman stated it but the beat writer tweet he referenced wasn’t as cut and dry as he had implied.

Cry, Eagles, Cry. I listen to this crap every morning in Philly sports talk radio. Only thing worse than their fans is their radio hosts.

This is exactly why some suggested Slater was the better prospect (DJ, cough). He “looks prettier.” Thankfully Brad didn’t fall for that.

Yeah Walter Jones was one of those guys. Maybe Larry Allen and Orlando Pace too. Hell I think the Saints might have based some plays around Terron Armstead’s ability to move before the injury sapped his juice, which is maybe where Dan got the idea.
