While I think you are correct, Chicago does have talent on that roster so it isn’t a 100% rebuild. I think it depends on ownership and GM relationship feel for Ben, not sure that Chicago ownership fits what he has seen in Detroit.
That situation at the top is terrible. Ownership sucks now, but there’s no light at the end of the tunnel for a while as she’s leaving it to a bunch of different heirs. Think what the Broncos went through before they finally sold. It could take years to come out of it. No hot candidate will want to touch it, Caleb or no.
If Poles is gone, I think its becomes more appetizing tbh, new HC and GM with a vision
Caleb is good, Idk if they will Keep Keenan Allen after this year (Hes almost mid 30’s, still got some juice left, but hes injury prone and its shown that he will miss games every season now)
hard to say what happens now, Kevin Warren has lots on his plate atm.
Supposedly Ben has shown interest but it’s believed most in the NFL inner circles feel he’s best suited to be an OC not a HC. They question his skills to lead. But it only takes one GM or Owner to believe he’s the answer.
I think AG is more likely the one we lose but it’s obviously possible we could lose both.
I’ll be surprised if AG doesn’t get a HC offer. Ben I think there’s a good chance he stays with us.
I think if anything can be learned from situations like the one Saleh was in, it would be it takes more than talent on a roster to build a contender. The entire organization has to be going in the same direction. Is that Chicago?
This has been my belief for over a year. Just listening/watching them in press conferences and hard knocks, etc… I don’t think Ben has the temperament to be a HC. AG has HC written all over him IMO
They may not meddle publicly, but I suspect that’s not as true behind the scenes. Just look at all their bad decisions over the years, some of those HAD to be coming from the top. Like this insistence for such a long time on a “Bears way” with defense, etc…
Also, who let him give a press conference this morning before firing him?
It’s just been so, so poorly run over the years, and that has to fall on ownership. Then when you’re staring down in-fighting between heirs, then the years it would take to sell… IF they can come together and decide it’s the best path forward, otherwise it would have to go to court and that could take forever. And even once a sale is OK’d, the team would be stuck in limbo like Washington the past couple of years.
