I don’t know what it would be called but i make a pretty awesome soup with potato, sweet Italian sausage and spinach. It’s kind of like the one at olive garden, but better.

Clam Chowder.
New England (white), not red (Manhattan).

Although I had some sort of tomato soup at a diner last week - Wow. Your spoon could stand up in it.

French onion - buts its so hit or miss. I don’t want to have to cut through the cheese with a steak knfe.

Gun to my head - NE clam chowda

Is that anything like cameltoe soup?

Potato soup or a corn chowda are probably my faves for a meal.

edited to add: Oh, and my wife makes an unbelievable ham and bean soup. That’s probably the best.

Chicken rice is underrated.

I can’t ever hear anyone say “chowder” without saying the “I’ll kill you, I’ll kill all of you… especially those of you in the jury!” line from a million-year-old Simpsons episode. No one ever gets the reference in spite of my excellent Quimby impression.

Love his voice lol

But this soup is not going into the hall of fame

We’re just going to have to agree that you’re wrong

A good pozole is hard to beat. I prefer pork but chicken is delish too.

My favorite charro bean recipe is very soupy. Birria soup is fantastic too, though I wouldn’t drink it if heartburn/acid reflux was an issue lol. Most people know it as a dipping sauce.

A good groundnut soup can be fantastic, but there’s a lot of different recipes so it’s more hit or miss.

Aigo Bouido is great on really cold days or when feeling a little under the weather, but you definitely want to be a garlic lover before digging in.

I crock pot a bone in ham, then shred some to use with Hurst 15 bean soup. I also put the liquid in the fridge and then skim the fat off and use 2 or 3 cups as part of the base. Add yellow onion and soak the beans over night. Simple but really good.

I’d agree on Pozole. Tom kha kai Is probably the one that I’d take over it. In terms of more classic staples love a well made French Onion, split pea and lobster bisque.
