First, I’ve come to grips with the fact we’re not a 15-2 juggernaut. Even when we were “elite” last year, perhaps we weren’t as great as we all thought, as @CuriousHusker as noted.
Second, the Lions lost both coordinators just like the Eagles did in 2023, and bravado probably got the best of us—and definitely did me—in believing that we could simply start fresh and replicate our success w/o Ben and Aaron.
Philly likewise fell flat in ‘23 and encountered similar problems before getting ousted in Tampa in the post-season—but they rebounded the next year and won the whole damn thing. That gives me hope.
This has been a painful year. But it might also be a great season for Brad to take stock, learn from his mistakes (and yes, he’s made plenty), and for the coaching staff to regroup and re-establish its identity.
Finally, as for Thursday night: It’s not a gimme. But it’s not as though the Lions walk into the game absent talent. Goff is still playing at a high level, and Jamo & Gibbs under the bright lights usually yields something fun. I also think ARSB will find a way to play.
Love your optimism
BUT…if our DL can’t find a way to get to Zak in under 4 secs, Pickens and Lamb are going to tear our DB’s new assholes
Unless Shep decides maybe playing some zone is a good idea
Success isn’t linear, this is the first time the bulk of this team has faced the adversity of not living up to expectations. Regardless what happens the rest of the year I really believe we will be better because of it going forward.
Your post genuinely makes me happy and gives me hope. One of the last things we have going for us is that we haven’t had a losing streak in forever.
Because if I ever thought there’d ever be another Carolina game where we skidded all over the field, or another Ravens game where we were out of it by halftime, this might be it. And the way we slapped them last year is probably still fresh for them. Part of me thinks 45-3 Cowboys. But if we come up with a gritty win, and turn this thing around, Dan will deserve a statue.
If they play hard at home ,that’s not the case other than the Tampa game ,if we play hard and injure few dallas players in 1 st quarter we have a good chance, not the other way like our rookie offensive lineman s who cant block timed to injure st Brown in 1 st quarter, can’t help but will do damage
As much as I want to believe the lions are going to get clobbered. Their confidence is so shuddered they don’t believe they can win. The head coach is shellshocked and that permeates through the team.
