Interesting… what didn’t you like?
The best stadiums in the NFL IMO are in this order:
- SoFi
- AT&T
- Allegiant
- US Bank
- Mercedes Benz
I just didn’t like the atmosphere there. On tv the crowd looks pumped up but it didn’t seem that way in person. It almost seemed too big and wide open
So you would hate “the big house.”
Maybe but I would love to hear that fight song on that stadium!!!
Almost everything you see on TV isn’t like that in person, including the fight song. Its definitely a disappointing experience. The only thing that lived up to what it seemed like on TV to me was when the players came out at the beginning of the game under the “Go Blue” banner. That was definitely cool to me. Outside of that it lived up to “the quietest 100,000 people” meme.
I am personally not a fan of the big house either… UM hockey games at Yost are where it’s at!
…and b’ball games at Crisler. Fantastic atmosphere!
ford field is boring. most of it looks liek you walked into a costco with a football field in it. I get the warehouse look to appear ‘blue collar’ but places like minnesotas look absolutely beautiful. they probably wanted to avoid as much glass as possible because…detroit…but it’s just so dingy and dark inside. I honestly prefer the silverdome in appearance inside. and nothing like that silverdome experience of sitting in the very last row in the nosebleeds, sitting on the back of the seat leaning on the chain link fence and looking back and down all the way to ground level. awesome vertigo.
I thought the Silverdome was a tad generic, but it really got loud in there with the acoustics.
Its funny, when those two new stadiums were being built, Ford Field sounded like the cool modern one built into the side of an historic building and Comerica Park sounded ridiculous with the circus type feel and giant Tigers. When I have driven by, its actually the opposite from the outside. Sounds like the inside too. I don’t hate Comerica, I just miss how close the box seats were to the action at Tigers Stadium. There was so little foul territory and the place had an old school charm like Fenway etc. I still think they should have just spent to revamp it, but I know there were all sorts of considerations that probably made it unfeasible.
comerica isn’t terrible but it’s very generic aside of the tigers. I do like the cars out straightaway center that’s kind of neat.
if only they’d come up with a different kind of roof for rainy weather. domes are bad imo from blocking the view of the surrounding city, comerica does have a nice view of that.
Man do I hate the modern sponsored field names. Other than the first one, which I’m pretty sure is LA, I have no f’n clue where those other ones are.
My fave is the Atlanta one. That roof is an engineering marvel.
- Los Angeles
- Dallas
- Las Vegas
- Minneapolis
- Atlanta
