The league shouldn’t be able to fine players for playing football.

The NFLPA should negotiate that out of the next CBA.

Fining someone $10K+ for a hit they literally can’t control in a tenth of a second is just insane to me.

Egregious and intentional stuff being fined is fine, but fining someone for a regular penalty or a hit the league office doesn’t like as much is crazy to me. As a player I don’t know how I’m supposed to change direction in a tenth of a second.

The nfl used the money from fines to pay for veteran programs and healthcare. The more they fine the players the less money out of the owners pockets.

Fraley is really saying play the game hard, snap to whistle. Finish blocks and plays. If that results in fines, oh well. Fraley and Campbell will live with that.

Yep. Once I read that it started to make sense why they were fining offensive lineman for holding calls during games. What I would do if I were the player’s union is negotiate an independent agency to handle player appeals of all fines. Right now the appeal goes right back to the person who issues the fine. Basically making him admit he was wrong in order to reverse it. Which we all know isn’t happening.

If I recall correctly, it wasn’t even the other team’s band, it was a local college band that was selected to do the halftime show. Raiola was a real piece of work as a human being.

I can’t remember the last time a Lions olinemen was fined. I can think about 20 defensive player examples though.

OL get fined all the time in this league.

What he’s talking about is aggressive (but legal) low blocking. Take a defenders feet away. Slow the blitz by taking out their feet.

DL and especially blitzing LBers worry that a 300lb offensive linemen rolling up on their leg or ankle and suffering injury.

Great OL’s play a little on the dirty side. They’re aggressive and physical. They put fear in the opposing defense and this does slow down the pass rush.

I had to look but Skipper was fined last year for unsportsmanlike conduct. Taunting.

Tomlinson got an unnecessary roughness fine in 2016.

Raiola was fined for taking a swing a the opponent and hitting them in the back of the helmet. 2014 vs Patriots DL Moore.

These are hard stats to find info on since no one seems to track it.

Point being is Fraley wants these guys playing more on the aggressive edge.

I get that it happens sometimes. But offensive fines compared defensive fines are about 1 to 5 ratio. That was my point.
