Ha, yes, there’s a world of difference between a spiritual retreat and a luxury vacation. If a retreat doesn’t include a significant amount of discomfort, you’re on vacation.

Possibly… usually they just leave food/water in a place where you know where it will be, so you never actually see or interact with the ppl.
I’m guessing he’s not that deprived though.

Take a vacation to northern Ontario in winter… You will be dealing with discomfort in no time!
