I want to get florios take on whether the lions are going to get cap consiserations for extending goff since you know they were gifted a 1st to take him in the trade.
Goff, 29, had one year left on the extension he signed with the Los Angeles Rams in 2019, after he led that team to a Super Bowl appearance. He was scheduled to make $27.9 million next season, including a $5 million roster bonus paid earlier this spring.
Under his new deal, he joins Patrick Mahomes, Joe Burrow, Justin Herbert, Lamar Jackson and Jalen Hurts as the only quarterbacks in the NFL to average more than $50 million per season. All six have signed extensions or restructured their contracts within the past year:
Burrow is the NFLâs highest-paid quarterback at $55 million per season. Mahomes restructured part of his contract last fall to guarantee him $210 million over the next four seasons, while Goffâs new deal averages up to $53 million per year, though full details are not yet known.

Team. Itâs the difference between the guarantee and the total value. (of course, I could be wrong) Like, the guarantees and current contract mean heâs here through the 27 season, but the overall value (212m) includes the 4th year of the extension or 2028 season.
And I really could be dead wrong on that.

Curious to see the full details, but we paid market value for a franchise QB. In 12 months Goff wonât be top 5 paid anymore and in 24 he may not even be top 10.

the âcap hitâ doesnât matter.
With a $170 million guaranteedâŚ.
he is getting paid his money.
Even if his 2025 âcap hitâ was $100 millionâŚ.
they could just do a simple restructure to lessen the âcap hitâ.

Tell me if I am wrong, but 4 year extension means we have him for 5 more years. 212m plus the 30ish for this year means 242 for 5 years is 48.4 a year.
