My new primary care is an early-thirties woman. During my last physical, I actually needed to have her check for a hernia, because I was experiencing some symptoms.
After that, she started to schedule my colonoscopy. There are apparently a few different surgery centers in my area, so she asked where I wanted to have it performed.
What I wanted to say was, “Well, I assumed it would be in my butthole, but you’re the expert.”
However, I had just specifically requested that this young woman fondle my nutbag, so it felt like the joke might be pushing the envelope too far. So I held it in.
That is one of my greatest regrets in life thus far.

I had a missed opportunity to crack a joke at work that still haunts me.
I had a phone call from a nurse requesting that I review an order for a patient. When I asked what the patient’s name was… the nurse pronounced the name as “Dough-Nelly”.
I asked her to spell it, since it sounded unusual.
D-o-n-n-e-l-l-y.
I thought of it only a few seconds too late… but I should have responded…
“Oh… Dough-nelly huh?… must be Italian!”
