That does help his case 
Ratledge is a better guard right now without question, but that’s all he’ll ever be. Savaiinaea offers some position flexibility, could play RT in a pinch, he should be a good RG, but it’s a little more of a projection and requires some development for the position.

Why do you think Ratledge is the better football player?
To be honest, I haven’t watched a ton of Savaiinaea, but I’ve been really impressed with what I’ve seen of Ratledge over the last couple of seasons. He’s an anchor in the run game, and he’s IMO got a great technical base to develop in pass pro.
Georgia’s line was noticeably worse when Ratledge was hurt earlier in the year. I don’t think that’s by accident.
My take above is mostly based on how I think Ratledge is underrated relative to his consensus draft grade.

I would agree Ratledge has a high floor but I also see it as his ceiling. For me he just plays too high for an interior O Lineman. He has good feet to get in position and usually gets his hands on defenders. At nearly 6’7" with with 32" arms I think his pad level and leverage is always going to be an issue. It shows on his Georgia tape that he doesn’t move the bigger DTs and NTs he faced in the SEC. I actually think the 2 other UGA IOL guys, Fairchild and Wilson may have better NFL careers. I do like Savaiinaea better. Just my thoughts.

I am intrigued by Brayden Swinson out of LSU. He transferred to LSU last year from Oregon and the light finally came on for him. He’s an Edge, which is what the Lions’ need. 6’4" tall, weighs 250. Great motor.
