Happy With Sewell....But Parsons Is a Stud

Still very happy with Sewell. But watching the Cowboys-Bengals game yesterday. I felt like I was watching LT coming off the edge. Parsons is a freaking stud, he’s almost unblockable. Just an observation because he’s a player many Lions fans were once interested in.

The Cowboys have realized using him as an off ball linebacker is a waste. Line him up on the edge and let him go after QB’s.

Yeah I wanted Parsons and sure don’t feel bad for it. But Sewell sure is a bad ass himself. That was a no lose situation with them 2.

Imagine Parsons and Hutch on the same D-line!! Good lord. Sewell is a beast too! So it’s all good.

When I see a guy flying off the edge wrecking shop in the backfield, my first thought is that I would love to have a guy like Sewell to keep that from happening.

Give Sewell a couple of years to gain some man strength and he will be a first ballot HOFer. Both look to be great players but with the rules tilted towards offenses I think we got the right guy.

And we get to see that matchup this year. Should be a great one.

I remember there was a Gif when the Bengals passed on Sewell for Chase. The gif was of Burrow getting smashed every time and not being able to throw the ball, that’s exactly what happened yesterday. The Cowboys sacked him 6 times and every snap it seemed like he was picking himself off the ground. That’s not sustainable for the Bengals. They gotta protect their golden boy. They have given up 13 sacks in 2 weeks.

Both are elite talents at their position. The difference is Sewell has a clean history where as Parsons doesn’t. Sewell also plays a position where you can typically play longer than an edge. When you take that into account, I think Sewell is and was the right choice even looking back.

Good point! Hopefully Sewell plays 10-12 years and is a future hall of famer.

Can’t wait to watch the match up . I will say this I would rather have a dominant O Line .

Lions took the only guy I wanted more than Parsons.

It’s all good from where I sit.

We need defense

Not only that but the shelf life for offensive tackles is much longer. Sewell could potentially play into his late 30’s at a high level. Who knows with parsons. He could be the next von Miller and be great into his 30’s. Or he could have 5 great years and flame out. You can’t go wrong with either player.

Exactly. I love play making DE’s and LB’s (who doesn’t). But to me they are luxury. The bills have been insanely successful at scheming sacks for the last few years. IMHO, an elite OL is more valuable then a sack master. Are we are dominate in the run game if we have parsons and not Sewell? I love parsons and during the bowl season before his draft m (before the covid year that he took off) I was dreaming of us getting him. But you just can’t pass on Sewell.

I agree with your overall post, but what did the Bills do this offseason. Spent huge money on a pass rushing specialist to try to take their defense over the top.

My only input here is re-address this in ten years.

I’m in Sewell’s corner.

I also think if Parsons would have come out as D-end/outside linebacker instead of an off ball linebacker, The Cowboys probably never get him @ #12.

This is why I’m still taking Sewell in a re-draft. They both are going to be elite (parsons is already there), but I believe Sewell could be playing at a high level long after Parsons is done.

And I am far from the type of thinker, “Lions are all studs.” Some may even label me a pessimist when it comes to my Lion takes.

Over the course of a career Sewell>Parsons. I wanted Chase so bad and now, even though Chase is a stud, we have the guy now would take regardless of who was available.

Took the words right out of my mouth. Hopefully Sewell will have a long, healthy career in a Lions uniform. I think, all things being considered, Lions made the right choice.

I get it. And I figured one might mention that. We aren’t one player away from a super bowl. Sewell gets us closer to that reality the. Parsons doesn’t really….not this current constructed lions team.
