It’s seems like more teams are going for it on 4th down and I have to think that Dan Campbell done started this trend!
I wouldn’t say he “started” it….
because there were a few coaches that started embracing analytics a few years ago and the 4th down attempts did go up.
I do think he may have pushed it to a new level.
.
He’s totally started a trend, but they can’t do it like we can.
I think our elite offense and a much lesser defense pushed Dan to lean into the analytics a little more too. The Lions have an offense capable of pushing the outer limits of analytic. Most other teams don’t.
Does Danimal lean into analytics, or just trust his big hairy man balls?
Both
Most definitely! This offense can beat you so many ways. It’s so balanced and Dan knows it. We have an Oline that’s probably the best and we have superb coaching.
And how can they? We’ve got four years of practice on them!
Yes he has and it’s another reason he should win COY. He’s changing the way teams play against us. KOC felt obligated to go for TDs last game instead of field goals because he knew he had to pull out all the stops to have a chance against Campbell’s aggressiveness.
He actually leans heavy into analytics, he just wants you to think he’s a big dumb idiot head beer guzzling macho man. Which he is.
Beyond the 4th downs, he has also done a lot to bring the running game back. And the success of TE’s across the league has also increased the importance of cover LB’s. We didn’t start the trend but we sure bought into it. The ability to transform this team to take advantage of taking what they are giving is where we have dominated on O.
Yep, posted an article about that exact thing sometime earlier this week, from Freep or DetNews.
We have 48 years of practice on them…cuz that’s how old Dan Campbell is. You can’t be Dan Campbell…unnnnleeeessss → you ARE Dan Campbell!
Neither. Dan manscapes his balls. It makes it less awkward when he makes other teams suck’em.
I’d say accelerated rather than started.
But it doesn’t just end there. I think we started a trend of teams leaning in more gap scheme in the run.
I think we are also about to start a trend of DCs being less fearful of living in man a good deal more.
We’re an organization with vision that is having tremendous success. We’re going to be plagiarized heavily. Raided for staff as well.
