I miss read the fine print LOL the third can be named on game day an will not count on game day roster.
If on main roster he would count but not game day . He can dress an not count. My guess is they will keep him on PS.
I also think Hooker starts the season on PUP

They will not rush Hooker. Game day at start will be Goff an Studfeld … Emergency QB dressed Martinez

So Martinez or any other QB on the practice squad can be in pads on the sideline on gameday, designated as emergency QB, and play if the doctors rule out the starting and backup QBs? Sounds reasonable to me.

Yes, BUT, the designation allotment still counts. I forget the number but you can only call a guy up from the PS so many times during the year.
So this is not something they can do every week. This might be a “Goff is questionable” situation where you pull him up in case Goff goes out in the 1st half. Or obviously if Goff is out you call him up to backup Sudfeld.
Either way, you can’t just have Martinez show up every Sunday. You have to use those wisely.

Are you sure they can be brought up from PS ?? I thought they had to be on your 53. The “not count” means they don’t have to be on your active list but can still dress/play under the new rule.

No you have to be on the 53 man roster. PS players don’t qualify for the emergency QB exemption.

There you go, look at me being all stupid and un-knowledgeable. I do however think there is actually a rule about how many times you can call the PS guy up. Not that it matters anymore in this discussion but at least I was 9% right… …I think.

Only 2 players per week, geez I thought it was more than that. It felt like last year a couple times we had an entire WR core that was off the PS. For example, Tom Kennedy played in 7 games!? Must have signed him to the active roster I guess.
