I think that is far more likely than us getting him in the 2nd. And we’re fast approaching the time when Charlie’s mocks are gonna start to matter.
It’s fine, if we’re talking with our 4th rounder I’d be thrilled. I agree that he’ll give us some level of competency and is very unlikely to bust. There are just so, so many guys who fit this description, and not just this year, every year, I hate to pay up for them. If you’re drafting someone that early, I want someone with legit upside.
I’m all for a player named Maxwell for when he returns a interception for a TD.
CB in the first to replace Khalil Dorsey on the depth chart is a priority guys!!!
I was thinking about JTT in the 1st the other day. I think he’s much less of a gamble than some of the other edges who are routinely mocked in round 1. And you could also argue that he’s not totally maxxed out his ceiling as a pass rusher either.
The biggest knock on him is that he’s a high end no. 2. But that’s really exactly what we’re looking for.
If we’re going with the safe pick at edge, at least give me one with some juice and SOME level of upside. If the main guys are gone to me that’s JTT and Landon Jackson, but JTT has a much higher floor and does the little things much better.
Yeah I like Landon too, would like to see them move out of the first and grab one of those two and add another pick.
Both are sorta boring yet highly viable picks for us. JTT is more impactful against the run and in short yardage, but Jackson may be the best closer of any edge in the class. He has a gift for getting the QB on the ground once he’s in his sights.
Guys you compare him to
Sam Hubbard and Chase Winovich
Both went pick 77
Sawyer goes between lions round 2 60-77
He’s got Bradyn Swinson in the fourth round too. Its gotta be character issues I figure.

Maybe he is just not that good? He had Sai’vion Jones going a round earlier.

Actually I was thinking about this the other day, but how is he so different from Danny Striggow?
Here’s Striggow’s measurables/testing: 6’4, 253, 32.25 inch arms, 4.84 40 with a 1.7 ten-yard split, 33 vert, 9’8 broad, 4.33 SS, 7.07 3-cone.
They’re basically the same size, really similar athletes both give great effort, have excellent smarts and instincts, both regularly play off the ball and come up with turnovers. Oh and we’ve met with both of them. The MAIN difference to me (not the only one, but the main one), was Sawyer got to play surrounded by elite talent, which afforded him more opportunities. Striggow worked over Miles Frazier during his one Senior Bowl practice.
This is all from that deep dive I’m preparing for a post in a couple of days, but just look at this quite from Striggow:
“I really like watching Aidan Hutchinson. It’s not necessarily because of a specific move he does. I think he’s great at what he does of course, but I love watching his effort. I see my effort in his tape. You never turn on an Aidan Hutchinson play and say hey, he took that play off. Even when he wins in the run game, it’s not always because he’s so physically gifted. It’s because he plays so hard with 100% effort all the time. That’s the kind of effort I’ve put on tape. That’s the kind of player I want to be at the next level. (With me) You know exactly what you’re getting. I play with 100% effort all the time. I love the game and always want to get better. I can improve my details and fundamentals. I have the qualities you can’t teach, and that’s passion and effort. You know what you’re getting the second you throw my film on.”
I still have Sawyer ranked higher, I think his long speed’s a touch better and his hands really improved this year too, but I don’t think there should be nearly the chasm between them.
In this draft I’m taking Tyler Booker in round 1.
It would not surprise me at all to see the Ravens select Branson Taylor in the 6th round.
Yeah, but Saivon Jones has talent too. I just hadn’t seen Swinson that low anywhere, I think he is a first round type talent but what do I know.
I think Dane seems to be suggesting that we’ll see some trades in the back half of the first round with those two QBs at 33 and 34. So in this scenario I would hope for a trade down.
I think I might pick Tyleik Williams or Donovan Jackson here though.
I like Sai’vion a lot better because he is just scratching the surface of his full potential. I think Swinson is a good football player that should go somewhere around the 3rd round. The talk of him near round 1 I think is just crazy. Just my opinion of course. I think all the talent in the draft on the D Line could push them both down into bargains.
Certainly could be, though I think teams no longer worry as much about the 5th year option with QBs. By the point you have to decide to pick it up, you should already know one way or the other if he’s your QB or not. Otherwise you end up in a Daniel Jones/Bortles-esque hell. Which is why you saw Levis fall to the top of the 2nd, for instance. In fact the last trade-up into the late 1st for a QB was all the way back in 2018, for Lamar.
That said if there are two teams jockeying for a QB like you get here, then it’s possible they try and jump each other to get the one they want. However I think Minnesota will take comparative peanuts to trade back (they only have 4 picks!), so they’re probably the prime spot for any trade up.
I think there could be a trade up for one of those 3 OTs to get ahead of KC.
Didn’t Sawyer start to cry after the Michigan loss when they put the flag on the field or something. Seen a video of him flaking out.i like him some but not before like pic 75 maybe. Dude has T Rex arms small hands. JTT is a much more complete player that is more NFL ready then most out there. Got arms and hand size.
