How do we view Alim McNeill's future in Detroit?

I love the guy, but I have been clamoring for Wingo to show what he can do for quite a while now.

LOL, I was waiting for someone to post this.
I feel good about his return, better than relying on Wingo.

Wingo has proven his worth the same way BroMart did.

Look at it this way, the Lions got Mahogany and Frazier on the field because they earned those snaps.

Wingo? zilch.

That tells me what I need to know. His a bubble player (on the roster bubble, that is).

I think guys who suffered serious injuries like McNeill and Hutch in 24 and came back this year will be even better next year.

Not so - according to the article and the film provided.

It’s one game against a Bears offense that was checked out/not in sync for much of the game. Sure, the Lions get some credit for that, but I still think the Bears didn’t give a shit/came out flat for whatever reason.

Maybe Wingo sticks around and does well (great for us), but in no way is the short amount of film on him enough to move McNeil. Crazy talk.

He got 37 snaps in week 2 and then 22 snaps in week 18.

I don’t think he’s done much to earn snaps during the week.

I’m not writing him off completely, but I’m also not viewing him as a solution to our greatest woes on the DL.

I feel great about it!

Give the man some time to recover. IF he struggles to bounce back from the injury this upcoming year, THEN you start to think about contingency plans. No one has any patience anymore.

To clarify my first post to the OP, I’m not writing off Wingo, just neutral on him at this moment hoping he can do more.

Shit, I’ve been patient for going on 45 yrs. now.

Reminds me of a joke: I’m not a doctor, but I know when I’m losing my patience.

We rushed a 300+ pounder back mid season from an ACL tear and we want to push him out the door because he didn’t play well? Let him recover this offseason and he will be back to form this season.

Just gotta see how he looks after 8 months of training vs 8 months of rehab

Ask us again next November

Don’t really have much to say about Wingo…..but the Bears wanted that game bad for Ben Johnson. Getting swept by Detroit wasn’t the way they wanted to end the season and head into the playoffs.

I don’t disagree - I think the Bears definitely ‘wanted’ the game for the reasons you mentioned. I shouldn’t have used ‘didn’t give a shit’ to get my point across, but they definitely didn’t have their A game for whatever reason.

hope so.

I think he flashed a lot last year and did against Chicago as well this year. Not sure why he can’t get on the field more

That stingy Detroit D. :joy:
