You know what’s my idea of hell? Staying in a hotel/airbnb when there’s been no provision made for coffee addicts. Like, seriously? Making plans on the fly when you are traveling is pretty normal. Don’t make me try and figure out if you’ll have coffee for me in the morning before I book.
a very little bit of 2% milk. when i run out of milk - oat milk, extra creamy (but not the barista crap).
I am trying to get OFF of coffee. But i can’t imagine not having a cup in the morning. I look forward to it so much. We have an automatic grinder set on a timer at 6:15. So its freshly ground every morning and the aroma of the grinding beans wakes me up.
Has anybody (who really liked coffee) actually quit? How?
Covid did seemingly make a lot of people racist ![]()
with my mouth
I put creamer in mine, real dairy. I’m not a fan of the whipped soybean oil stuff. It also means that if anyone who is lactose intolerant dares to “borrow” my creamer at the office they get a heaping dose of Montezuma’s revenge.
The question for me is not how, but why? There is significant evidence that coffee is good for the brain and can help prevent dementia. And, the dopamine kick just helps with performance. I can live without anything but food and water, but why if I don’t have to? To answer your actual question, kicking any drug is the same. Withdrawal. Best thing to deal with it is substitution. So, have a big drink of water first thing. Go for a walk.
I drink it black just coffee, before I started racing Horses I drank it black with a spoon of sugar maybe 2 , but at the race track all the Barnes had coffee in the mornings but none hardly had any fixings so I learned to drink it black now can’t stand it with anything added. Black and strong is the only way to go.
Coffee actually saved my life. I have Addison’s Disease and my adrenal glands shut down and the caffeine was the only thing keeping my heart pumping. I wasn’t diagnosed until I was literally almost dead and hospitalized but they didn’t know the cause until they FINALLY did a Cat Scan. Once I got up to Mayo the head of endocrinology saw my X-rays and said he had never seen anyone’s adrenal glands that far gone and still alive. Coffee, literally saved my life.
Wow. Yeah, caffeine is a drug worth risking addiction to. Glad to hear you made it bro. Cheers to coffee.
I did for 18 months.
I drank a lot of water and iced tea as a substitute. The addiction headaches were hell. I started drinking it again and I am not going to quit again.
Well based on the results only 50 percent of the den have good taste and a fully functioning brain. To the other 50 percent who voted otherwise.
May God have mercy on your souls! ![]()
They’re gonna have to pry my cold fingers off of my coffee cup. I won’t quit because it’s part of my, um, morning routine and it keeps me regularly regular.
I have stopped drinking it into the mid afternoon and instead stop about 10 o’clock in the morning. I was having problems with sleep, and so I modified my diet, blue screen at night, and the coffee thing too. It made a huge difference.
Years ago, some acquaintances were quitting coffee, and I experimented for a short time with something called Pergo, I think. It had the clear and pronounced effect of causing constipation. And it’s been black coffee ever since, which does the opposite.
If you ever have any issues juat let me know. I got you covered.

mostly black. But iced in the summer. at work the coffee doesn’t taste too good so I’ll ice it and add a little cream
The question for me is not how, but why?
Caffeine and A-fib don’t co-exist well together. For me anyway. We’re going to try substituting half decaf beans (which are pretty hard to come by, unlike decaf ground coffee). If I don’t miss the caffein with a 1/2 mix, then 3/4, 7/8 … etc.
I hate coffee
Sacrilege!
I’m keeping an eye on you!
Generally if I’m home my first coffee has about an 1/8th of a teaspoon of Celon Cinnamon (high quality) - Cinnamon is supposed to be good for diabetics so that’s the main reason, and I like it. Then I’ll put a little 1/2 and 1/2 and a couple scoops of Collagen Peptides for protein and joints an such. Dissolves quick and has no taste to speak of. Then my second will not have the Collagen. If I feel like it on a weekend morning this gets added to the mix! Highly recommend! Great on the rocks as well.
