How good was Billy Sims?

He was just so explosive and strong. He was amazing to watch. Back then, guys played FOOTBALL. They played physical, punishing style. But Billy had enough shake to make guys miss. But he mostly didn’t. It was beautiful.

I remember in his rookie year, he slipped and fell on what could have been a huge run. He jumped up all pissed off at himself, and threw the ball on the ground. Forgetting that in the nfl somebody has to at least touch you.

Not a great memory of him really, but it always stuck with me.

The first real superstar that I remember though. We had some really good players, but nothing like him.

Billy Sims - unfortunate victim of that godawful Silverdome turf. Barry’s damn lucky he didn’t experience the same fate, as are we!
I’m pretty sure the old Veterans stadium in Philly had the absolute worst AstroTurf in history, though.

My dad said he was elite and that knee injuries cut his career short and that Detroit was blessed to have back to back elite running backs.

!! What did you do with it? Lot’s of $$$ I hope!

House fire in 2015. Complete loss of everything in the place. By the good grace of God, the only thing that was remotely salvageable was in one small corner where I had my parents ashes in mini-urns and my father’s encased flag from his Arlington burial. Everything else was ashes.

Wow. Sorry to hear it. Cool story

Was shocked to hear this also.

How the ■■■■ is his name not on the wall at Ford Field?
Come on, man!

Billy and Barry was the Lions version of Favre and Rodgers….just probably the wrong position

Billy sims was almost automatic for a td on goal line. He would jump over the pile for a td

The Packers fans have been so lucky with QB’s.

And don’t look now but Love has been on fire the past couple games. Sigh

He probably won’t be Favre or Rodgers….but we are not to underestimate him either….as you saw last game. I seriously doubt he will turn nobodies into somebodies the way Favre and Rodgers did

Love’s last 4 games. 1107 yards passing. 8 TDs 2 Ints. 103 QB rating with an added 57 yards rushing.

Don’t get me wrong I hope he fails because he’s a Packer but he’s improving rapidly and I don’t like it

He has a good coach…they are just in a somewhat down year. But the Lions do have a front office that can match them. The Packers will make strides to rebound and get back on top. Holmes and Campbell will have to just play chess with them and the rest of the North. I think we can stop trying to clown Kwesi in Minny….he may not be the buffoon most of us thought he was. In fact, we have to hope Brad isn’t fooling himself with his calculations. I don’t think he is, but passing on the DTs could loom large. But the Lions are playing above that and most teams make minor mistakes like that. Trust me I am not being passive/ aggressive, but the needs on defense are rather obvious so I think we all can trust Brad and Dan to address and cover that!

Yea I’m with ya on adding to the Lions defense.

I was mainly just saying the Pack might be decent in the future. I sure hope not. But they have the youngest roster in the nfl with some talented young players. Gary just dominated Decker which aint easy to do.

Boyd…I promise you they aren’t going away easy….we are just gonna have to play the chess game with them and stay ahead (if not keep up)….we (the Likns) are in a very good spot but it’s up to Brad and Dan to keep this thing a float….I have no doubt that they can!:100:
