How Lions Plan to Ensure Secondary Communicates, Executes

It all starts up front. As long as Stafford is not allowed to get comfortable in the pocket, he will wilt under pressure. Force him to (try to) scramble and the mistakes will multiply. He can pick apart any secondary given a clean pocket.

Stafford and his receiving corps are as tough a challenge as there is for a young secondary to take on. They best have their stuff together or it could be a long day.

One mistake and the Rams will make you pay.

I’m expecting Branch, Iffy, Kirby, and Davis to take on the bulk of the snaps for this reason.

I suspect Arnold, Rakestraw and Amik will be sprinkled in sparingly as they all transition to the Lions defensive scheme.

Boy it’s like you have never watched the guy , he doesn’t wilt under pressure. Never has, that usually when he steps up. The dude can be down by 20 and your still not safe . And if you try to blitz him to often he will make you pay.
Nice story thou.

We shall see. 12 yrs was plenty, seeing him.

I have to agree with @Tcmouse. The Stafford I remember took hits to make the big throw, played injured to try and win largely meaningless games, and was an absolute gamer. And I don’t remember him wilting much, considering how crappy we were.

I’m wonder if age and simply mortally May finally catch up to him

I don’t think he wilts under pressure…but if we are hitting him often, he is prone to ints and pick 6"s. How about a Kerby pick 6 after Alim and Hutch knock him silly. We knocked him out cold in the playoffs…should have never been allowed back in that game.

That was dangerous and honestly inexcusable. Besides, how shitty does it have to feel to be the backup QB and see that they would rather play a concussed QB than you? Not a confidence booster.
