Hutch finished with formal rehab

I’m still impressed by the way that he finished the play. He realizes that he’s broken his leg, and then he rolls over, grabs Prescott and gets the sack. You can’t get more “finish the play” than that.

Pay him tomorrow. If Brad makes a mistake on that, I don’t think people will have that big of a problem with it. He’s due a major ■■■■-up.

Easy 27 sacks next year…maybe 28

Just talked to the nfl… They know the record is ■■■■■■

Well, I get that he played against several backups. But don’t you think the other team knew that and game planned accordingly. Double teams, chips, etc. In addition we lost Davenport early so the other team could afford to put more resources against Hutch. So if we have a better edge opposite Hutch maybe he gets less attention. So is he better against a starting tackle with fewer double teams, fewer chips and more pressure coming from the other side, or is he better with a backup, more double teams and chips and little help from the edge position? I don’t know the answer to that but it could be a wash meaning he may do just as well.

I hear ya… we all love Hutch, but he won’t get to face Justin Skule types of OTs in many games.

To your point… 4.5 sacks… out of 7.5 sacks…
came against Tampa.

Also… do the people questioning your response realize that Rams, Tampa, and Cardinals ALL had backup OTs playing in weeks 1,2,3 when he racked up 6.5 sacks??? :man_shrugging:

I think that is saying he is a top 5 edge rusher.
He has developed to the point where the staff trusts him to exploit mis-matches.
Last year Hutch was moved around more than any other time as a Lion to hunt mis-matches…
That’s where teams get sacks.
Do you think Garrett, Hendrikson, Crosby, etc. get their sacks against Penei, Wirfs, and Lane Johnson?
So I don’t take anything away from Hutch for feasting on scrub OT’s. That’s what he is supposed to do. Against good OT’S he still gets pressure more than just about anyone in the NFL

So basically Hutch isn’t a unicorn

This was supposed to be the crux of my argument. Perhaps I wasn’t explicit enough.

To be clear, Hutch is awesome. Hutch is elite. Pay the man.

I just could see folks saying that he’s not the same guy post injury bc he’s not on a 27 sack pace or whatever. Which is of course absurd but also so on brand for The Den at times.

For my part, I was yanking your chain a bit. Nothing wrong with having realistic expectations. I do however see no reason - apart from not seeing it with my own eyes yet - that he can’t threaten the Strahan/Watts/Baker benchmarks. I’m sure those guys went up against some juicy competition in their respective record seasons. Only time will tell, but I don’t think the leg injury will hold him back from reaching his ceiling, whether that’s 14 or 24 sacks.

Looking gooooooood

That guy is awesome. His work ethic has to make an impression on his teammates …

Look like he was really struggling cutting left at the end there.

And he’s still got 4 months until opening day.

He’s going to be 100% out of the gate.

Hutch is a double digit sack guy. Playing on a team with an elite offense gives him a chance at racking up a lot of sacks. Definitely one of the top edge guys in the league with chance to be a HOFer if he can stay healthy.

Hutch is easily the best edge in the game. He can absolutely get 15 -20 sacks.

For sure… He looks like he could play now. Although the final hurdle is physical contact. Once the pads come on in training camp… That will be a big day for Hutch.

Schitts Creek Party GIF by CBC

Agreed. And didn’t he have the best, possible condition to be in, albeit with two snapped bones.

I am very concerned about his tackling style, however. It’s exciting to watch when he gets ahold of the qb and his legs leave the ground. Problem is, the legs tend to go wherever they want.

It’s tough because Hutch is a hair on fire, non stop motor kind of rusher. The last thing I want is him to start playing tentatively.

Can we get Aaron to take a flop for Hutch?
