Regarding St. Brown, receivers are going to drop balls at times. Linemen are going to miss blocks at times. QBs are going to throw interceptions at times. This is football. It’s why I was against going for it on fourth down on the St. Brown drop play. When deciding to do that, a coach needs to consider the situation and wider view and the possibility the play may not go as planned. There were just a few minutes left in the half, and KC was getting the ball in the second half as well. The Lions’ defense was banged up and in trouble. Don’t take a chance on KC getting a two for one by giving them a short field. I think the Lions should have called a different play on third down, something with a higher chance of getting the first down. Instead, they called a run play with what was an obvious intent of going for it on fourth down if they didn’t make it. I think Dan Campbell still struggled sometimes with the situational decision making. Please don’t say “the Lions are successful by being aggressive.” Being aggressive and being reckless are two different things. Campbell, at times, is reckless. Now, maybe if they punt on fourth down, KC goes down and gets a TD anyway. But, it certainly would be somewhat more difficult by pinning them deep.

Which isn’t true. They were called for a penalty, Detroit just declined it.
