Not saying the O is a problem but it could always be better…no? I was talking about the Bear’s current roster, not what Ben had when he was here. His system seems to be plug and play with back ups as well. Case Keenum just posted a 110 passer rating and he hasn’t started a game in 2 years.

It’s happened only one other time in NFL history:
1992 San Francisco 49ers: Opened the season scoring 31 points in each of their first three games (31-14 vs. Giants, 31-34 vs. Bills, and 31-14 against the Jets).
Agreed.
Ben’s timing was good. He left, yes, but so did Ragnow and Zeitler, replaced by Glasgow and a rookie. Decker continued to decline. The offense would have taken a step back, Ben or no Ben.
And Ben couldn’t help the defense, then or now.
And in one of the great ironies, the Bears leading WR is Kalif Raymond.
There’s no way they could have kept Ben, but they easily could have had Dennis Allen as DC. I’m sure Shep is a nice guy and knowledgeable and yells a lot, but he is in way over his head. Allen does more with equal or less talent. If I see another Lions db or lb, turn their back to a running qb, and chase the receiver I’m done.
My point is that Ben had better personnel when he was here and the offense still hasn’t fallen off much even with worse personnel. The offensive line last year wasn’t nearly as good as the one Johnson had for instance and this year the offense is humming along just fine. The problems now are the same problems then, that the Lions can’t stop anybody and it’s exacerbated now because they’ve lost a lot of talent/leadership on defense. The offense isn’t the reason why the Lions aren’t as good as they were a few years ago. Ben is a very good offensive mind so I just want to reiterate that I’m not diminshing what he is as a coach but, again, the Lions offense isn’t the problem here.
You remember Mr. Fusion on Dr. Brown’s DeLorean? It’s like that. Lions fans don’t drink coffee. We power our day by cramming SOL angst into our tanks.
Honestly I am high on Petzing but Ben Johnson’s offense just looks more fun. Moreso I think our success is designed for our superior offensive players to perform, and Ben’s looks like it just sets players up better. Probably a better long term strategy cap wise, but right now we have the offensive firepower to be tremendously effective regardless.
Kinda spooky
Oh what a difference a day makes…
That is a function of terrible man coverage against a very mobile qb. Didnt happen week 1 or 3, i think we need to stop assuming the Bills game issues are going to be typical outcomes.
With that said, coverage overall still isnt anywhere near good enough.
Didn’t they score like 3 points last week?
The ■■■■ are we talking about?
Not taking anything away from Johnson, he is a very good offensive coach and play caller. But to say he doesn’t have ‘any of those types of players’ is a stretch. Thuney is a stud OL and their OL is just fine. Swift and Manonghai (spelling) are a good 1-2 punch, neither are as dynamic as Gibbs alone, but they are very good backs and give Chicago a solid run game behind their OL. Look at their tight end group, deeper and arguably just as good, if not better, than ours. Odunze, Burden, and Raymond are a pretty damn good group of receivers.
I’m not here to argue who has better offensive weapons, but Chicago has a plethora of them, much like we do here now. The gap isn’t that big no matter which side you fall on with who you think is more talented.
I think you could make that argument with just about any team out there. There’s certainly a small gap with most team teams as far as talent as they are all quality NFL players (except Borom). I just feel Ben gets a lot more production out of lesser players. Could you ever dream of a Lion’s backup QB winning a primetime game against a Super Bowl contender by 20 points? And don’t bring up Hipple😂.
This made me laugh.
Dude, any other OC would have put up negative 28 at best.
Not saying the Eagles wont be superbowl contenders but that team last night isn’t. That was one of the lowest effort and most disinterested brands of football i have seen. Lets be clear, the eagles did EVERYTHING they could to give that game to the Bears.
The Bears just said thank you and moved onto next week.
Brian Flores is ZeusOdinVishnu.
Shep trying to be Flores is VolstaggLoki
That’s the general feel….
