I Love Gibbs but……

Haven’t seen that at all with Montgomery.

We see it very differently so I understand your take

Gibbs had 218 yards and 2 tds in the previous game. What are people even talking about here?

About the Lions getting pushed around on offense and defense by a team that got dog walked by the Chargers a week before. Not asking for Montgomery to get more snaps but maybe get back to some smashmouth football if possible with this OLine. It’s not like Gibbs didn’t have 20 tds and like 2000 yards from scrimmage with Montgomery starting the games last year. Again, as other have pointed out, it’s more of a reflection of the current OL. Just looking for a spark possibly.

They should have DMo the starter again. What happened to “the tone setter”? When you watch all other teams play they have that basic run up the middle. Gibbs shouldn’t be doing that so often. They get too cute with Gibbs. DMo starts and finishes. Gibbs highlight real in between.

Speed kills. get Gibbs in space and I will take him over anyone.

The o line and scheme are the problem. Love Monty too.

the lions have the best backfield in the NFL. Lets not screw it up.

its up to Dan and company to get it working.

I was fired up.

I will say

would rather have DMO on passing downs, dude is really good at Pass Blocking and we need that more than ever rn

Monty was a very good RB for the Bears. He was their leading rusher with a bad OLine. He was always superior to Jamaal. I agree with the OP. Monty’s physical running set the stage for later when Jamyr came in.

Monty has always been overrated. Even going back to his college career he is a well below avg yards per carry guy.

I love Monty as a RB2. But at this stage in his career he has lost a step that he really didn’t have to lose. I don’t know what some people are watching. He’s a tough and he’s a good teammate…but that’s where it ends.

Completely lost me with your first sentence. We obviously see football much differently.

I just view him as an upgrade from Jamal…which is exactly what he was supposed to be.
Underrated contributions from him include…being Gibby’s mentor, the energy he infuses to the team on an almost weekly basis, his locker room presence, and the fact that he’s an overall winner/leader. There have definitely been games that we would have lost if he had not been out there.

Monty is who impressed me the most. Some people here have different opinions. I truthfully think he’s one of the best in the league. I’m not sure how you guys don’t see it. I mean literally see it. Do you all close your eyes when he plays? This season has been tough, but in some ways Gibbs has been less effective. Its Morton and the IOL.

That’s what happens when teams get better and you don’t. Every team in the north got better in the off-season Detroit got worse.

And Gibbs great runner but can’t pass protect even a little. The over use of him is on your OC.

Sad thing is the Vikings definitely aren’t better and the jury’s out on the Packers after losing to the Browns and Panthers. Still have plenty of time to turn it around.

How did they not get better , they added to that front and they ate our strength for lunch. We’re still a very good team , but them others are closer to us then they have been the last couple years. And we’re down 2 loses in our division. What happen to all the guys ridcuing these teams all off season while pounding there chest we’re are the greatest. At least let’s win something before you act like that.

You think the Vikings are better? They won 14 games last year. Division games are tough. The 49ers with Mac Jones beat the rams already. The Eagles lost to the Giants. The Packers got Parsons then lost to the Browns and then the Panthers at home. Tied the Cowboys, who didn’t have Ceedee, who were just killed by Arizona at home.

Gibbs is starting because the offensive line is atrocious! DMoe isn’t as fast so he would be getting hit behind the line of scrimmage whereas Gibbs speed can allow him to at least get some positive yardage.
