Iffy to Miami

Not buying this.

How do we get Iffy to cancel out DJ Reed ???

Teams will know what his genuine injury status was. Between all the coaches that left and players in the locker room speaking to their agents and friends in football it won’t be hard for another team to ascertain just how injured he was or wasn’t.

That’s a fair point, and I agree. Now, in this free agency pool where you have guys going for huge dollars, how come the best offer Iffy could get was a 1 year deal for 4 million? That tells me Miami doesn’t have much faith in Iffy either, and signed him to the classic “prove it” deal.

What part are you not buying?

Didn’t one of our posters here with an ear in Allen Park say that Iffy had fallen out of favor? I seem to remember that.

Here is a good article from Jeremy Reisman where he breaks down the pros and cons of signing Iffy, and actually nailed his contract prediction. Good job Jeremy!

I am trying to find the story where Dan Campbell basically said about Iffy that we needed him back and he needed to play. Remember at the beginning of the year, the Lions said Iffy’s ankle injury wasn’t long term, and they didn’t put him on IR because they felt he would be back before week 5. That obviously didn’t happen. I know the finger injury was something he had to have surgery on.

Found it - Detroit Lions film review: Returning Ifeatu Melifonwu offers immediate reminder of potent versatility
“We need him,” Lions coach Dan Campbell said about Melifonwu. “We have to have him. There is no other choice, there is no other option, you have to be able to go, so he did. I thought for not having played since training camp, it was solid. It really was. Now, it was rusty, he’s got improvement to make, he knows that, and he will improve.”

This is where I am saying, Dan Campbell basically told him they needed him to suit up, so he finally did.

The part I highlighted. Where are you getting they had to “beg” him to play? He has an injury history, that’s why he only got $4M/yr.

Ah, ok. I posted that comment above if you hadn’t seen it yet, but that’s what I was basing my comment off. For a coach like Dan Campbell, they want guys they have to kick out of the facility. They want guys you have to drag off of the field. So for Campbell to make that specific comment about Iffy and telling him “there is no other option”, that to me is begging someone to play. That’s how I see it anyways.

Annoy Funny Face GIF by ABC Network

100%. He was drafted when the team sucked and Brad was willing to take more risks on insane traits and get talent in the door. They have since amended that idea. If you aren’t a culture fit, your not getting drafted by Detroit and Iffy is a huge part of the reason why.

Iffy could have asked detroit to sign him to a 1 year 1 million deal and Brad would have said good luck elsewhere. He was never coming back. The only thing worse then his injury history was his work ethic.

The problem is going to be playing time. In other words, they can’t pay him enough to factor into the comp pick formula if he only plays 2 games. LOL

The last safety we lost to Miami was Deshon Elliott couple seasons ago.

He had a great year in Miami when he left.

I feel like Iffy will do good there.

Playing time is a factor, but very little. Currently, Nick has him easily qualifying for a 7th round comp picks, with zero points for snaps.

He had a great year in Pittsburgh last year, too. They’ve got a darn good Safety at an average 3 mil per year for 24 and 25. Can’t understand why he’s not locked in with a better contract.

I still have faith that he’ll let us down on the comp pick, too. It’s Iffy at best.

You give Brad a 7th round pick, he waves a little magic fairy dust on it and wraps it up with some other picks and becomes a 5th rounder. :joy:

LMAO true…but in reality I feel like Brad always just holds out to acquire THEIR 7th round pick back in the trade that we make lol

He’s got a round 7 fetish.
