What i don’t understand is why all the secrecy? What is this mysterious injury that supposedly only god can heal?

Why can’t we have nice things? Isn’t it bad enough we lost a hall of fame center to a freak toe injury? Now an all pro safety having his career cut short as well? We’re definitely due for some good injury luck.

I think it’s because there’s a limited but unknown amount of juice left in the orange. Professional football players are used to pushing through pain and fatigue to get results. They pride themselves in that, at least some do. The Lions are smart to coddle Kerby and wisely use whatever remaining juice he has.

Someone here suggested not playing Kerby until the 11th game or so. I’d be fine with a part time role at that point, and then if he shines, play him more in the playoffs.

But I’m watching from the bleachers, screaming at the ump because the pitch was an inch outside of the strike zone. Whadda I know?

People do get tired of talking about their health all the time. Especially when they have serious problems that aren’t going to heal in a couple of months. It gets old. That’s probably the extent of it.

They don’t need to really tell us anything. So they aren’t. There are semantics to it. But behind the scenes the convo is he is cooked.

IR him… I don’t want another Decker situation where he can’t practice and then goes out there on game day with zero reps, recipe for disaster

The problem is you are thinking he might actually make it to game day…………dude is getting his retirement check right now. This is the Lions doing right by him, he is collecting more time under his belt, collecting more pay and other benefits of being on the roster. He is not on the roster next year and the no one should be holding their breaths of any kind of impact from him this year. It’s a damn shame but his talent was underappreciated he had the ability to cover so much ground and its why he had so many interceptions. Its upsetting tbh.

I wonder if he got something like this done and no one has any clue if it will work or not.

Isn’t one more season an extra $800 per month starting at 55? I doubt that’s a big part of the calculus given that he’ll at 35ish m in career earnings after all the guaranteed money makes it’s way to him.

I think it’s exactly as Dan has said but also implied with his body language. It’s a Hail Mary but what is the point in taking the Hail Mary attempt when it doesn’t mean anything?

odd vibes for sure. odd enough that i now have zero hope or expectation we get anything out of the player moving forward. career ending injuries are tough regardless of when they happen … his sadly happened at a point when he was becoming one of the best in the league.

The general wording I was told was “one more year never hurts your retirement”…but your right who knows really. At the end of the day he is cooked.

Yes, he’s always been a unique personality and I love that about him.

I see someone struggling with the reality that the one thing he loves could be taken away and he put his faith in God to him help control what he can control and let go and let Carrie Underwood take the wheel.

I think he is a bit frustrated because IMO he wants to try full go but Lions medical are being ultra conservative and I can appreciate and understand. I’m glad to see him speaking!

I was hoping he would be a bit more involved at this point to have him early season but if this approach has him return mid season truly ready…Kudos to him and Lions medical.

Bonus we might get Branch back a bit sooner than we thought.

Hope for the best and maybe he’s able to contribute to a late run or he will need this team to be around if his time is over.

It doesn’t present like a nerve injury. Nerve injury would sound like Laporta and regaining strength etc. he’s been seen working on the sidelines and such with only straight line speed work I don’t believe I’ve seen to much lateral movement and cutting yet so this sounds like a structural problem ie. cartridge potentially.
