The video is pinned at this 5 minute discussion between Robert Mays and Derrik Klassen:
MASSIVELY unlucky with injuries last year. Complete anomaly of a season.
Think about the type of injuries. Broken bones vs a bunch of soft tissue stuff.
So true Natty. The odds that we see another season like that any time soon, for any team, seems to be highly unlikely. For me I cannot remember ever seeing a team hurt so bad and still get the wins that the LIons did last season.
People make fun of me for saying shit like this, sometimes.
→ My truth → If this team rolls out healthy, they could be the most dominant team in playoff history, IF Alim is 100% by playoff time and we have a little luck with health.
This team is talented and Deep. Brad has gotten us some very nice depth players, seemingly out of nowhere. The core stays healthy…we Dominate.
W’ere gonna be so battle tested by playoffs this year. Not just a tough road schedule, but a tough road schedule OUTDOORS, in who knows what type of weather?
Well, it’s not gonna change, so it’s sorta moot what they think. If it causes us to have more injuries, we’re just gonna have to live with it. I don’t buy that at all, I think it was just an outlier year of extreme bad luck (like @BigNatty says, just look at the types of injuries). It’s also a really small sample size overall.
And that is exactly why I throw caution to the 15-wins-again club. I don’t think it’s an unreasonable statement to say that I think this team could be better and healthier than last year and yet lose more than two games.
The crazy part was almost all serious injuries came on defense and a lot of it was friendly fire. Was ridiculous
I think that is almost a certainty. At least the losing more than 2 games part. And I think we’d be hard-pressed to be worse than we were by the playoffs if we don’t get hammered with injuries again.
Likely! Alim won’t be back until late season, may never be 100% next year…the schedule is brutal…new coaches developing continuity. replacing a key OL, etc.
They’ll peak at the right time, and I’ll be peeking at them all seaon, while waiting for it.
This is fluff, you are what your record says you are. If we win less games were not as good. Especially if we’re healthy. We had 16 injuries to the defense alone I believe. People are saying this covering there ass if we’re not as good.
I don’t think the 2 season are very comparable totally differant teams, part of that 15 win season had alot to do with our Coordinators.
“well I’m Hanz and He’s Franz and were here to PUMP you up !” we going to kick ass and take names in 25.
not worried about the new coordinators- our staff doesn’t choose weak people to lead.
Ah, well then I’ll have to make plans to go see the Super Bowl trophy that must be on display at Ford Field, since we had the best record in the league last year which means we were the best. Clearly better than that Philly team that had a worse record.
Terrific news! I missed the parade
Ah, that’s fine. We might have have if we got to play them, we didn’t get a chance because we shit the bed against the commanders. KC was 15-2 also.
You guys are already making excuses for this team, why ?
I don’t hear excuses…Dan Campbell said the exact same thing last week.
What you mean there not excuses , you are all ready saying we can lose more games but we’re a better team, and we got back 16 players that we didn’t have.
I’d much rather win 12 or 13 games and have playoff success than win 15 and get bounced in the 1st game. Wild card teams have won the super bowl even.
I would cite the vikings over the last couple of years to dispute this. Sometimes a weaker schedule makes you look better than you are. The Vikings look great…until they play against us…or another playoff team.
Alim and another DL are gonna be out until mid-late season…then will have to get to game shape after returning, so there’s already that.
I can buy that, for sure. I think there will be some continuity issues. Last year in the playoff game, we had 2 HUGE penalties that gave them first downs…one was a first and goal, and the other was in teh red zone. I was pissed, especially on the 4th and 2, when we had lots of momentum and then had 12 men on the field. IMO, the coaches weren’t as prepped as they could have been. Half of our staff was already in Chicago in their minds. Coaching matters. That said, I think they get it right by mid season or sooner, then peak at the right time. Sure do wish Alim was healthy.
Losing the 2 Z’s isn’t gonna help. Hope they can come close to replacing, if not improving Zeitller and Zadarius spots.
Not ones that shit the bed during them playoffs. Best team doesn’t always win. But your record is a very good indication of how good you are. We were one of the best teams even with injuries. 16 of them. But we didn’t play that way in the playoffs.
