Seems like the Chargers taking TeSlaa would have been a marketers dream.

Haha, right? Having Teslaa on the Chargers would be a marketing dream for sure! Can you imagine the kind of promotions they’d do? With a name like that, he better be fast and electrifying on the field! Also, I’m curious about his hair if it’s a mullet, that would be legendary for the team!

Or nightmare.

Teslaa is on a slick trip. And he’s always ready to kick ass.

“San Diego runs out of Chargers for TeSlaa”. Trademark.

Is Jamo SpaceX?

Wait, Jamo’s definitely Hyperlink.

I agree…but I also think the price to draft Teslaa was ridiculous. I’m not as optimistic as everyone else here…

George Pickens was just had for peanuts. Yes sure it’s probably a 1-2 year rental…but the price was a future 3rd. Should put into perspective what we just gave up for our guy. And yes I’m well aware Pickens isn’t a culture fit. I’m just talking in general terms. Not advocating or suggesting we should’ve gone after him.

Teslaa = Lions 2026 3rd which was 17 picks after Dallas this year

Pickens= Cowboys 2026 3rd which was 17 picks earlier this year

Cowboys had to give a 5th for late 6th pick swap

Lions had to give a 4th essentially for early 6th pick swap

Lions had to give another 4th essentially for early 6th pick swap .

How is this a ridiculous price to pay ???

For a guy we will have for 4 years and is a culture fit instead of a guy that will be a free agent with Jamo next year ??? And is a turd

Dallas got fleeced not us

Agreed… Cowboys gave up a THIRD for a TURD…. :poop:

Pickens has had plenty of videos posted about him jogging on routes… and refusing to block on run plays. He is a loser… and that is nothing new about him. Pittsburgh isn’t even trying to hide the fact that they just wanted him out of their building!!!

Meanwhile… some people still focus on the Lions “giving up 3 picks in the 3rd round” for Teslaa… despite the fact that these picks will end up being #102 in 2025, ~ #90-96 in 2026, and ~ 102 in 2026….

AND…… the Lions already turned the #182 pick from the Jags into Miles Frazier (with the help of pick #226).

I don’t think there would have been much complaining at all if the Lions had held the #102 pick and selected Frazier at that point in the draft!!!

Last things first. Dallas may have overpaid. A lot of teams did not want Pickens at any price.

But if the Cowboys overpaid for Pickens, this is evidence that the Lions also overpaid for TeSlaa. Maybe by a lot.

Second thing, calling a 3rd round pick “essentially a 4th” is disingenuous. It is essentially a 3rd, albeit very late. Using the Rich Hill chart, a mid 4th is worth ~ 50 and a late 3rd ~ 100. Overall, the Lions sacrificed the equivalent of a mid 5th trading up for TeSlaa, if we go by Rich Hill valuations.

Nah , they are both comp picks last pick of the round.

Which is essentially top of the 4th

We selected Teslaa with our 2026 3rd wherever that is

Which is essentially a 4th. He was practically free!

If it’s free it’s for me and I’ll take 3

Teslaa may not be the right pick for other teams……but he’s perfect for Detroit. Number one athletic score at the combine. Big body athletic freak with 10 inch hands who may have been the best blocking wr coming out. And make no mistake he’s going to be blocking more than anything else. I mean how many touches is he going to get behind St Brown, Jamo, Gibbs, DMONT, and Laporta? Perfect Culture fit with a year to play behind Tim Patrick.

You are certainly in the majority thinking we overpaid, so I wouldn’t say you don’t have a leg to stand on or anything. And I DO think we paid a lot, I just don’t think it was nearly as bad as it’s being made out to be.

I mean everyone’s just saying “three 3rds for TeSlaa, that’s crazy!,” but that wasn’t the deal. It was TWO 3rds plus a 3rd round pick swap, and we got two 6ths back. And one of those 3rds we gave up was the very last pick in the round - as was the one we swapped this year - and the other should be very late as well.

But I also think Brad views the value of draft picks very differently than the rest of the league and draft media, and we’re just gonna have to get used to it. The Rams are the same. It’s not 100% “F Them Picks,” but that’s a good encapsulation of the mindset. The picks are only the tools to get the players they want, and they don’t mind paying up for value. You get what you pay for, right?

That’s the thing though, him not being a culture fit - for A LOT of teams - is a big part of the reason why he was cheaper. Also, this is the last year of his rookie deal, so you have to factor in only one year of cheap control. Pick compensation doesn’t truly reflect the value of a veteran player. I mean the Browns got Amari Cooper for a 5th a few years ago, he was WAY better than that. The Pats got Randy Moss for a 4th. Hell the Raiders got a starting NFL QB for a 3rd this year. Age, contract, position, attitude… all of that matters.
