Jack Campbell was called for ROUGHING J.J. McCarthy on this play?

Absolutely.

His arms weren’t “around” the QB. They were to either side of the QB and made contact with the ground.

That CLEARLY demonstrates and attempt to not land with his full weight.

IMO that call was BS. They threw a penalty for something that Hutch was attempting to do, not what actually happened. Its like being pulled over for speeding while going the speed limit…because you were attempting to speed…but your car couldn’t do it.

Arms clearly NOT “wrapped” around McCarthy…..

You would think Hutch would want to avoid doing that.

Yeah, JJ really looks so smushed on that last pic lol. The refs are terrible sometimes. I hate that call.

I think you just reiterated and agreed with what WCLions said.

yep….

that Jack landed on a QB with his weight..,

.

there is absolutely ZERO language the rule that mentions…

“arms wrapped “…..

.

but …… if anyone fells better about it….
.

keep crying those misguided salty tears.

I’m looking at your still shots Phunny, and absolutely have no idea what you’re looking at. I think its the first time in the history of all my Dendom, that I just don’t see it the way you do. Campbell’s hand is around some blue pants (his own) – they’re not purple!! Campbell’s other hand is on the ground, not around McCarhthy. But I guess you see what you see. Watch it in real time. He braced his fall. Clear as day. Peace.

Here is where the ref was standing…..

Which means he saw Jack’s right arm….
NOT touching the ground when JJ hits the turf.

sorry, Phunny, we’re just going to disagree on this. The ref doesn’t see his left arm on the ground, both feet on the ground (which also disperses weight), and his right arm probably going to the ground. I just don’t see anything resembling his full weight on the QB. We can agree that the ref didn’t have a good view. I guess you could say he called what he saw or what he thought he saw, but if he wasn’t sure his view was a good one, keep the flag in the pocket.

unfortunately…. the QB being overly protected is the new normal.

I mentioned that I hate the rule….
and I don’t think it should be called when the hit was made immediately after the ball was released…
(because JJ could have definitely decided to tuck the ball and eat a sack depending on the coverage)

but I totally expected a flag to be thrown on that play with the current rule.

This reminds me so much of the Goff fumble debate….

It’s similar…. except @JerseyJungle makes a valid argument.

Some people just argued that Goff really did fumble until the side view showed that his hand was moving forward….

and they had it wrong the whole time.:man_facepalming::man_shrugging:

Goff did fumble though….the refs called it and Moose confirmed it in replay…

Cowboys fan that actually believes Moose has a clue….

and still trying to argue against actual video evidence…,

Breaking news…. Richard believes that every call the refs make against the Lions is legitimate. .:laughing::laughing:

It’s the same thing you are doing with the Jack Campbell/McCarthy thing. Oh all of a sudden the refs and everyone else has a clue….only because you agree. If they disagree then, no they don’t have a clue. But Moose has waayyy more of a clue than you….its why he calls games weekly and you post daily on a message board

No different than you believing the ref got the right call on the JJ hit. Oh so you get to pick and choose when refs get it right?? Who are you Bob Quinn….the smartest guy in the room??

Moose is a former professional athlete.

It doesn’t make him intelligent.

He has a job as a broadcaster because he is a former Cowboy.
