Dyson sphere would cast a shadow like we lived on Tatooine.
Maybe its more like Rama.

I don’t think dyson spheres are realistic anyway. way way WAY too much material required to surround a sun, even with just a ring. more material than what exists in the solar system. I think one surrounding a planet is much more likely although still a tremendous amount of material.
There’s certainly a lot of complexities with building a Dyson sphere. I would just say it’s likely alien civilizations have figured out a way to tap into a star’s energy source directly or have figured out how to make boundless amounts of energy using other techniques that we are clueless about at this point. I would suspect a civilization that could do these things would be far beyond the primitive nature of building a gigantic structure around a sun.
But again, who knows, maybe they’ve figured out a way to build a large structure with dark matter, if there is such a thing? Maybe AI nano robots can slap a Dyson sphere together in a matter of months or a few years? It’s just so hard to speculate on technology that is going to be so much further advanced than our own. Just think, if we don’t blow ourselves up, how much more we can advance as a species in another hundred thousand years?
we just bought a pet version of one of those that cuts the long hairs off the beater bar itself.
of course this is after my 2 daughters with ridiculously long hair move out.
Suddenly I feel older…
Just think, thousands of years from now, when surviving humans are digging thruogh the detritus of this very time, they will come to determine what killed off nearly all of humanity and its culture in a virtual flash: Facebook.
There are a lot of notable big chunks, but also a lot of little chunks in every direction doing what comes naturally too. It takes a village of astronomers to get me through the day.
Idk if anyone saw this.
Saturn and Jupiter have been having a race to see who has more moons.
In the 80s voyagers brought the total to 18 for saturn and 17 for Jupiter by 2000.
In the early 2000s the Canada-France-Hawaii telescope (CFHT) now had Jupiter at 63. Taking lead.
From 2000- 2018 thanks The CFHT they slowly discovered 64 more moons. Totaling now 82 for saturn passing Jupiter in 2017 now at 79.
In early 2019 Jupiter re took the lead at 92.
Now going back to Saturn. It re took the lead in late 2019. And built a commanding lead by 2023 with 146 moons!
Now in 2025 using that CFHT. They discovered 128 more Moons for Saturn. Now totaling 274 moons!
Meanwhile Jupiter only gained 5 more in that time totaling 97.
Absolutely crazy that in 25 years they have discovered 336 moons for the 2 planets.
And this is mostly with a ground telescope with a 3.58 meter lens.
They are planning to upgrade it to a massive 11 meter lens by the end of the decade. Just imagine what else they will find!
Ha, I have mused on that orientation problem many times, no idea why. But, what happens to orientation in space when you leave the orbital plane has indeed made me wonder more than once.
that is incredible. I mean a lot of them are probably “moons” and not very big but jupiter and saturn are huge gravity sources. I mean look how many moons the sun has!
Yea for Saturn they need to be ~3km in diameter
Meaning only about 11 square miles of surface area.
Put it in Detroit terms.
Aretha Franklin Arena, to 96 to the River to 75.
I thought you were going to say they need to be at least the size of Aretha Franklin.
Sir, your bias is hanging out
Oh ■■■■ I couldn’t stop laughing. had to stop to listen to this part over again. “Maybe don’t challenge people to a dick measuring contest when you have a micro-penis.” This shit is gold. One guy is pissing on your leg and telling you it’s raining, the other guy is telling you why and how it rains and that piss is…piss. Thanks for the post, really great.
I always have a problem watching videos where the narrator makes it more about themselves than the actual content they’re trying to present. I can’t even count the number of times I’ve done a fast forward in a video where the content provider just keeps yammering on and on and on and then injecting themselves into the middle of the content over and over again.
If you’re trying to present me some content, then STFU and let me see the content you’re presenting. I couldn’t make it though the video. Just way too much interjection ruining the entire flow of the conversations.
He didn’t, he made it about the truth.
Then why interject so much? The content of their discussion would reveal that and let me form my own conclusions.
Im going to agree with both of you guys.
I like the content.
Maybe 1 in 10 YT narrarators actually add value and most need to pipe down. Less is more.
