That’s the weird thing about Goff. He could win the next four games, get a playoff win, go to another Pro Bowl and I guarantee a good chunk of people here would be posting that they aren’t convinced and need to see more
SO true. It feels crazy to me that ppl think he’s underappreciated…then they post post after post of ppl giving him credit. funny to witness it. Some ppl think if you are not giving Goff 100% of the credit for our improvement, then you are under appreciating him.
I think they meant in the general sports world ether he’s still considered a bridge QB. Just saw the PFN mock with the Lions drafting AR at 7 so they only have to ride the ‘Goff-coaster’ for one more year. despite doing a ‘nice job’
click-bait title. Goff has been VERY widely talked about, highlighted, rated, interviewed, ranked, and analyzed all season long into The Packer game and after that to. Goff has had hundreds of compliments in 2022 and leaking into the new year. I just think it’s polar opposite of ignored, .
Ignored is a very different word than underappreciated. It took a lot of people on this board a long time to stop clamoring for a new QB in the draft. There are still some that still want to replace him. And there are many national media outlets that continue to follow the narrative that he was a bridge QB until Detroit could get a replacement. Meinke just few weeks ago actually said (paraphrased) that Goff has been terrific this year but he still thinks Detroit can do better. The narrative, tied up with Goffs’ play for the first half of last season is dying a really slow death. The reality is that over the course of Goff’s career there is much more good than bad. The bad was in large part due to his circumstances and McVay has done a really good job of painting Goff as a failure to take attention off of himself. Goff has been THE top QB in multiple statistical categories for the last half of the year. Still people talk about upgrading, while Mahomes, Rodgers, Allen, Burrow, etc get salivated over by announcers and pundits. So I think it is fair to say he is underappreciated. That being said I don’t think he really cares. I don’t either as long as he keeps playing well.
Well, there you have it. Some people on the board think since some local guys and some guys on the forum like Jared Goff, he’s not underappreciated by a large majority of the national media and even a decent portion of the board. I’ve literally had to defend Goff in an argument on this board where it was proposed that COOPER RUSH would be a better option. But sure, not underappreciated.
they clamoured for a new QB because at the start of the season, things were polar opposite. The team was losing and badly-often, so tempers flared, sure it came at Goff, people wanted a better QB (then.) and a new HC and many other things. We were livid, upset, angry, and again searching for answers. The blame game had already started, who’s fault was it !? and it was getting PLENTY ugly in The Den. Now it’s butterflies, compliments, praise, winning football, and a hope that we stomp The Packers. Some say they are already pleased with results, pleased with THIS team and what they accomplished, Now we have high hopes, that this final most important game is not ruined by phantom BS calls or by The Lions , not showing up. IF we win ? Fantastic ! , IF we lose -we’ll be ok. either way, we will regroup and plan from that moment as we wait for The NFL Draft and the offseason.
The sense I get from this article is the thought process of some of the folks here: he’s been really good this year……but he’s really expensive and he’s no Allen or Mahomes. So let’s draft someone else.
Is he really expensive? Last I checked he was making middle money for a QB
We have never had a QB as good as Allen or Mahomes but it seems that’s the new standard for fans here. Despite the fact that there’s about a 2% chance a drafted rookie would be the next Allen or Mahomes and about a 90% chance they won’t be as good as Goff
In Goff we have a QB who is performing at an elite level, who our coaches trust who knows our offense and has led the best offense Detroit has had in years
