Jayron Kearse Waived

I’m actually somewhat surprised that we haven’t seen more of this in the last couple of weeks. I know it’s minor, but any salary cap savings can be rolled over to next years shrunken cap. If a guy is here on the last year of their deal, and there’s no future here, it’s better to at least get the prorated portion to use next year. They’re going to need every penny.

Veterans who were on the opening day roster have guaranteed salary for the year.

The other side of that is cutting guys to save 1 or 2 game checks is pretty bad look for anyone wanting to come to the Lions as a free agent.

Then the whole Calvin payback thing…

Then the whole Calvin and Barry retiring at their prime rather than play for a organization full of dipshits.

Then the whole “Run off all your talented guys because they have vocal opinions”

Then the whole trashfire of the last 3 seasons.

Then our stellar winning tradition.

Then the beautiful weather and fine national reputation as a destination city.

Then the whole rebuilding the team, coaches, GM and FO thing.

Then the whole your Franchise QB is getting talked about being traded.

This is just stupid.

Put him on the IR off a made up injury or just leave him deactivated but don’t cut him.

He counts towards the compensatory pick process if you lose him via FA. Not to mention he’s young …, Why cut him? Just stupid.

Setting the standards. If you let one player get away with it, others will follow and do the same.

Kearse should have asked for permission to leave the hotel especially if he had a valid excuse.

Yeah, I forgot that it’s only game to game if they’re added after the season has started.

You’re actually doing them a favor at this time of year. If they can hook on to a playoff team, they have opportunities they would never have here, and with injuries being what they are, it’s not a bad opportunity.

Thats how non-leaders lead.

I think this is where MP failed. He didn’t set the standards from the beginning or follow through with the standards set. He was too inconsistent. Showing up to meeting late, calling people out in front of others, etc.

Leaders have to set achievable standards for everyone. If people exceed it, that’s great! But leaders also need to help those that are struggling to achieve those standards.

If you’ve exhausted all options and the person is unable or unwilling to meet the standards of the team, the leader has a responsibility to the team to fire the weak link and hire a stronger one. My guess is that this is not the first time Kearse got in trouble unless the Lions have a one strike, you’re out policy.

You don’t want the the weakest link setting the standards for the team.

Standards should be emphasized, tracked, and reinforced every day! A manager manages the problem-usually created by a lack of emphasis, a lack of direction, and support on the part of the manager. A leader sets the pace. Every individual on the team understands not only where we are going, but how we are going to get there! Set standards, when implemented properly, act as the foundation for that success!

Exactly my point.

Struggling with standards and saying “fuck the standards” are night and day brother!

I’ve given the “it’s not you, it’s me” speech before.
It was bullshit. It’s always bullshit.

I’m breaking up with you but I’m really doing you a favor…

Cmon man.

I’m being serious. If you’re a playoff team, would you rather sign someone to fill in for an injury that’s had significant playing time and has performed okay, or an untested practice squad scrub? If Kearse is kept on the roster for the last game, he doesn’t even have a chance to do this.

No one wants to get cut, but he actually has a chance now to be playing a meaningful game in January, which is something no current Lions player can say.

You don’t know that for sure. Our guys might enter a Madden tournament in January. They have plenty of time on their hands.
