133 is more than the two most recent deals: Murray and Wilson.
Apparently, that’s not the only thing.
He knows that, which is why he’s negotiating to get to that point. The Watson and Kirk Cousins deals were fully guaranteed because they were open market deals. And they showed what a QB could get if they didn’t blindly resign with the team every year.
This is another thing that has to be taken into consideration, and it favors Jackson. Tagging him twice will cost the Ravens somewhere around $100M. And tagging him a third time will be astronomical, somewhere in the $80M range for that single year. So a series of tags could earn Jackson $180M and his freedom for life. Once he has been franchise tagged 3 times, by NFL rules the Ravens would not be able to tag him again. So part of the calculation of a contract extension will involve this math with $180M over 3 years being more than $133M over 3+ years.
