How bout we start with this….his first two games last year he had 6 TD passes against ZERO INTS. In his first 9 games he had a 100+ QB rating 3 times. A fourth game had had a 90+ rating. Then he closed the last 8 games with 7 of them being a QB rating of over 100. So again, I don’t get the 8 game narrative with Love…
You are combining games and that is cherry picking at its finest. The topic is “He had only 8 good games”…. Hock means 8 games individually good. Now if we stick to the topic his very first two games he games of 3 TDs/123+ QB rating and then 3 TDs and 113+ QB rating….first two games. The point, again, is that he had more than just 8 good games. He had like 12 of them
I’m not cherry picking, I’m looking at the last 8 games, compared to the first 9. Which is what was being discussed in this topic. Nobody said he had just 8 good games.
And I’m responded to the “He only had 8 good games” narrative. He had more than 8 good games and the game logs are there to prove it. That’s all I’m saying. I’m m not saying he did t hit a snag because he was solid the first two games and the very next two games he was not good at all. He had two good games out of the next 5 before he came into his own the last 8 games. But, again, my point is that he didn’t just have 8 good games. He had at least 12 of them
And again, no one said he had only 8 good games. You are arguing with yourself. The 1st half of the season he had a 80 passer rating (including 3 games above 100), which would slot him at 27th, the very worst in the league. The 2nd half his passer rating was 113.9, just above Brock Purdy for tops in the league.
How is it cherry picking when it’s the truth?? After the first two games, which were both 3TDs and no INTS 123/113 rating in respective games… he had two good games out of the next 5….which the other three were bad games. So that’s cherry picking?? And look at the very top of the thread….there were a few who said he only had 8 good games and that is why he is getting this big contract. You may want to read it again bruh!
I don’t see anyone saying that. You may want to reread, because you are wrong. People said that he got the big contract for the way he played in the 2nd half of the season and that is 100% accurate.
If he played the 2nd half the way he played the first half, he would not have gotten the contract he got.
That would be wrong. It would be cherry picking if I was acting as if the three bad games didn’t happen. That’s not what I’m doing. And telling the truth is never cherry picking unless you are leaving something out….i wasn’t leaving anything out.
For context to my quoted post.
I was addressing that last season, IMO, again, IMO last season, was the convincing factor. He had a bad first half and a great second half which is what led to him geting the deal.
You are expanding on how I viewed what led him to getting the deal.
However, when you compare the sample size at the end of the day his good games vs bad games are not that far apart.
It I wasn’t really comparing halfs. I mean how do you determine half’s when there is an uneven amount of games?? What I was directly responding to was the notion that he only had 8 good games. I have seen a few of our members say that and it’s not true. After the first two games where he had 6 TDs and no INTs and a combined rating of 118.5 he hit a hard snag where he turned the ball over and had ratings of 66.4? 69.9 & 32.2 and that surely was awful. In the midst of that he bounced back and had a 90.8 game, which isn’t bad and another game of 115.5 QB rating. Now the other two games he had a rating of 72.1 and 71.8….not good. But then he hit his stride and went on a nice streak. I get what you and Dead are saying….that his consistency didn’t start til the last 8 games of the season where 7 of those 8 games he had 100+ QB ratings. I was just pointing out that he had more than just 8 good games… and that was mostly for some other posters
You said I was cherry picking when I was looking at the 2nd half of the season vs the 1st half. You are picking the first two games of the year and another one and coming up with him having 3 good games in the first half. That’s the definition of cherry picking.
Yea, if you are responding to the one outlier in the thread, you should probably quote them, so that everyone knows/ Instead of making a generalization about the other 95% of the people that were comparing the 2nd half of the season to the first. Consider it a lesson learned and grow from it.
I think you can use the player we saw on the field. Love looked good. Excellent. I think he will be worth the money. Whether that amounts to wins/titles in a tough division is yet to be seen.
As a comparison look what happened to Lions fans after midseason 2022. People spent their money for the following season in spades. The team was better than their record. You could see it and feel it. I am pretty sure this is how the Pack felt. Given that they have decades of excellence, I like their chances to be right.
