Packers general manager Brian Gutekunst “suggested there could be discussion” about Jordan Love starting games late in the regular season.
It’s far from a sure thing, of course, but the Packers are nearly eliminated from postseason contention and Aaron Rodgers is dealing with a variety of injuries. Gutekunst this week all but committed to Rodgers, 39, as the team’s 2023 starter, which should open up trade possibilities for Love. In Week 12 against the Eagles, Love threw for 113 yards and a touchdown on nine attempts in relief of an injured Rodgers. He appeared vastly improved from his previous regular season appearances, moving the pocket and confidently slinging well-thrown balls to Packers receivers against a league-best Philadelphia secondary. Rodgers has told Packers beat writers that he would approach late-season starts for Love with an “open mind” after a lost season. Love is likely a better fantasy option than Rodgers and can be stashed in deeper leagues this week.
Seeing as the Packers game has a chance to be an enormous game for us to close the season, I thought this was relevant.
As much as a I hate the Packers…they play the Rams next. That’ll put them at 6-8. We need them to get knocked out of the playoff race officially to see Love I think. 3 of their last 4 at home in the cold in Lambeau.
I’m not gonna lie, if we are in a win and in, lose and your out scenario, I would much prefer we are not playing Aaron Rodgers. Pride is wonderful and all, but going into Lambeau in December against one of the best QB’s of all time is a daunting task. I won’t be any less happy beating the Packers with Jordan Love starting to make the playoffs.
If the Packers win out, they finish 9-8. That likely does not get you in the playoffs. Dallas is a lock for the 5th seed and both the Giants and Redskins only need one more win to reach 8 win and with their tie they would have tiebreaker over any other 8 win team. Its safe to say the Packers need to win out or they are out.
They likely beat the Rams, but then finish with the Dolphins, Vikings, and Lions. My guess is they lose to at least one of the Dolphins or Vikings and will be eliminated by our week 18 matchup.
The Dolphins in the heat down in Miami will hopefully be the game to put the nail in the coffin. The other 3 games are all in freezing Lambeau, where the Packers got the refs on the payroll usually.
A whole bunch of chicken counting going on.
The first paragraph of the story blew the clickbait thread title out of the water, but, lets speculate wildly out of habit.
That’s not the game I remember. I recall him throwing 2 interceptions that lost them the game in the final minutes. He only played 1 half. Rodgers carved us up in the 1st half before resting the rest of the game.
