Just a little reminder of where the Lions roster is at:

We’re doomed. How can we compete:

I agree the roster is great almost everywhere. Excluding that DL.
It has been an issue for years now.
The starters are fine enough, but in todays NFL you need 8 good DL. Not 5?That the lions have. Ill give it time because well theres 6 months to go but im getting nervous.

That’s very cool. Never seen that before. I think 8 might be a little low for our Safties though haha.

Zeitler can be replaced with players already under contract. Better with him but not hurting without him.

Edge is a concern. No Smith and Marcus means we are vulnerable to another Hutch injury. Even if we add a top rookie and bring back Muhammad that gives us Hutch, Paschal (not really an edge player), Marcus a rookie and Muhammad. 5 guys. I can live with that but I worry about Paschal as a primary pass rusher.

DT is my concern because of injuries to Alim and Wingo. If we bring Levi back and draft a rookie high I am happy.

We are so f-ed.

I believe that is what they call…
“addition by subtraction”
:sunglasses::rofl::smirk:

.

In all seriousness… Iffy was unreliable for nearly all 4 years.
He played less than 900 defensive snaps total.

And… sounds like the staff didn’t think he had the grit needed to stick around.

I don’t understand their numbering/ranking system.

Since it’s a 1-10 scale, ‘Average’ would be rated 5.5. I think it’s reasonable to expect 16 teams rated 1-5, and 16 teams rated 6-10. As in, the teams are relative to each other, half ‘above average’ for each position group, half ‘below average.’ 3 teams for each number, roughly. I understand there might be a few ties.

For DL, for example. I counted 12 teams that are rated 6, 7, 8, 9, or 10. So 12 teams are ‘above average’ and 20 teams are ‘below average’ for DL? That makes no sense.

Same for RB (in reverse). 22 teams have RB groups rated 6, 7, 8, 9, or 10. So 22 teams are ‘above average’ and 10 teams are ‘below average’ for RB? Illogical.

Sounds like ‘feelings’ dressed up as ‘stats.’ Not my favorite kind of metric…

It’s hardly a stretch to assume BB and Kerby will be even better next year. So maybe that’s a factor.

0 minus 0 is still 0.

There was the part of the playoff run in 23 that was a shining moment in his career. Probably the last and only.

Colvin figured out that you can avoid being f’d by preemptively having Brad insert his finger in your bum.

agreed. Lynn, Smith, Adams, Ukwu. I think only one of these guys should be on the final roster. A couple injuries and you’re right back down to practice squad guys playing heavy minutes.

Wait. Just the tip?

Patriots with the #1 rated defense. Yeah, that sounds about right.

Yep.

The scores are not force ranked or any kind of Bell curve.
They are just Mike Clay’s opinion.
If he feels there are most teams have a poor DL situation then there doesn’t have to be an equal number of good DL rooms.

Where’s the weight for coaching?
We pass the Ravens when you account for that.

Lol you need a chart to tell you how good we are ?

Safety is a 8 yet we only got 2 , and WR is a 8 with only 3 . That chart is silly.

I’m glad you feel all warm and cozy. I don’t think team has alot to fill out before you make such a assumption.

We have a great core so we will always be competitive at least for a while. Thing some want is to compete for a superbowl that’s the next step. Some just want to get to the dance.
