Justin Jackson a lock?

I thought he showed he belongs in the NFL. He made the most of his opportunities. Great burst, speed, hands out of the backfield, on special teams, and especially looked competent as a kick returner. That spells doom for Iggy, which is not a bad thing for the team since he is truly a fringe NFL player. It’ll be heartbreaking for MCDC to make that cut since Godwin has given his all and done everything the coaches have asked of him including a position change. But the fact he got significant playing time last year was one of the reasons we were a 3 win team.

Now the big question is do we keep Jefferson or Iggy on the practice squad? I don’t remember how many RBs we stashed on the practice squad last year if any.

Iggy can work on the practice squad.

I would be fine with Iggy on PS - I think Jackson offers more talent and deserves the roster spot. I would also be fine with simply cutting Jemar.

Iggy just doesn’t do as many things well as Jackson. Jackson is a better pure runner, better receiver, and can return kicks. Iggy’s best skill is returning kicks, but the majority of kickoffs are touchbacks, and he doesn’t return punts.

Iggy getting cut, they will try to slip him onto the practice squad.

If God forbid something happens to Swift, Jackson can start games, he’s done it before and played well for the Chargers.

I think he’s RB3. Might even take some touches away from Williams.

Very impressed with him thus far.

I think the touches he gets that would normally go to Williams is if Swift goes down.

No love for Reynolds? The guy played well last year and looked good again yesterday.

i vote craig reynolds > justin jackson personally. no idea how many rbs we keep. jackson is probs better rb but if godwin is so great on special teams im guess we keep godwin over a 4th rb.

Reynolds’s is a lock already in my mind. I felt the last spot was a 3 way battle between Jefferson, Jackson, and Iggy.

What do you think they’ll do with Jefferson?

Didn’t the Lions have Justin Jackson returning kicks yesterday? At one point, not sure if kickoff or punt return, I thought I saw him do so.
For me:
Swift
Williams
Reynolds
Jackson
Jefferson PS

I think we will release him in hopes of putting him on the practice squad. Nothing he did in preseason makes me think another team would claim him. 22 carries for 72 yards isn’t exactly making a statement. 3.3 yards per carry.

Yes, great return and called back on one of the 200 penalties called in that game.

Jackson>Iggy on special teams too. If they keep Godwin, who isn’t getting picked up by anyone btw, that’s a problem.

Jackson showed some serious return skills yesterday and makes really good cuts when running the ball. My favorite play from him yesterday is when he somehow turned a run that should’ve lost a yard into a two yard gain with just a little wig and falling forward.

During the game yesterday, the announcers said something about Jackson had been really good at special teams with the Chargers.
Just curious if anyone knows what he brings on the special teams?

YES to all of this → Jackson is clearly superior talent to the other 2. I hope iggz can stay on practice squad because he can back up WR, RB, PR, and KR. There’s value in that, for sure. Still…We have lots of depth at WR & RB, and Jackson is a superior talent at KR/PR as well as depth at RB.

Next year, we will be cutting, releasing and/or trading good players that we dont’ have room for. Love Brad Holmes.

Igwebuike could go unclaimed.

Justin Jackson, a more proven and known commodity, probably would not.

I’d keep him and let him return kicks

This staff keeping Iggy over Jackson would be very concerning.

Duce Staley is smarter than that.
