Lmao!
I respect your opinion on the draft…
What is your current top 18 Big Board right now.

I have no idea. I just know that Keeanu Benton isn’t on it. In the second? Fine. Not my preference but it’s not egregious by any means. But 18? Even in a meh draft that’s incredibly rich.
That’s fair.
Maybe I’m wrong, but it feels like many know “best player available” is what we are supposed to do…. But desperately wanting to replace Buggs or AO in 2023 results in considering things like Benton a round early… or reaching for a guy like Porter…
We know the combine and Pro Days will have a heavy impact, but I’m struggling with Gonzalez or Witherspoon top 10…. I doubt Branch makes it to 18…
I wouldn’t take any DT that might be there at 18.
I think I’m in on double dipping in the secondary in the first round . Just rip the bandaid of what is by far our biggest weakness IMO.
I think a lot are in that camp…. I don’t know the right answer, but the Packers went balls out from 17-21’ with 3 firsts and 3 seconds in the secondary…. They’ve only had one top 12 D, and that was 9th…
The first 2 years with 3 top DB picks, the D still finished mid to late 20s…
Yes the Jets turned around, but I don’t see Seucexin this class…. I also think Jordan Whitehead, Lamarcus Joyner and DJ Reed being acquired via agency helped a lot.
I’ve spent more time on him and I could see him at 18. It’s just “when” someone will take a chance on the size. Bresee has a lot of the same traits but has the stout size to go with it. Once Carter and Bresee (and some have him way down the board) go though, flip a coin. I love Cancey’s game and I do see the Donald comparison. In mocks now it’s Carter top 5, then… pandemonium at the position. I wouldn’t cry if he’s our pick at 18. Explosive, disruptive, penetrator translates.
I agree with Coyote that Benton would be a perfect fit on our D Line. I’m not sure we have to take him at 18 but I don’t think he will be there at 18. Benton is a player i liked early in the season. He is relentless in his effort and he plays almost all the snaps.
Cancey always gets the next Donald comparison because hes short and he comes from Pitt but it ends there. If you just watch his highlights you think your watching Donald or Randall. He does not have the core strength of Donald and as Thats2 said his play against the run just isn’t there. I don’t see him doing anything that Pascal doesn’t already give us.
sorrry I meant I don’t think he will be there at 48.
Kancey is way more explosive than Paschal. He’s a much better pass rusher then Oliver was in college. He’s also better against the run then Bresee. He may go before 18!
Let’s see how he works out. As of now Benton has a better chance than not to be there at 48 IMO.
My preferred DT path forward is:
Jerrod Clark as our monstrous line of scrimmage moving, bull-rushing, block absorbing, pass deflecting nose and Adetomiwa Adebawore as our teitchy, compact, long armed 3T who can slide out to closed end when needed.
Not sure if AA gets to 48 though. Hope so. We could use some more Nigerian Americans on the team.
Being explosive doesnt do you any good if you explode straight into the OL and cant disengage, which is mostly what i saw in the WVU film.
As a pass rusher, Kancey is more explosive.
I will venture to guess that Kancy will certainly not test more explosive than Paschal. Since Paschal at 270 pounds had a similar vertical 37.5” and a 1.57 second 10 yd burst to Adrian Peterson (38.5” and 1.57) , and nearly identical 10’ plus broad jump…. I’d say no DT in this class will prove more explosive…
By comparison Donald was 9’ broad, 1.63 second 10 yards, and 32” vertical…
Paschal also had 35 TFL 13.5 sacks and a 76 yard int returned for a TD while playing a bunch of DT and 5T in the SEC…
Paschal is the reason lm not interested in paying Okwara and re-singing Comish…. Im okay with 1 or the other, but I want 600-800 snaps from Paschal if he can stay healthy. He’s also an amazing leader- he was a captain in his freshman year…
BTW- I love Kancy and would gladly draft him at #18 if he tests really well, and has over 32.5” arms and 275 plus in weight…. If he’s 6’ and 265 with 31” arms I would probably pass.
I can agree with a lot of this!
The important thing is he’s a freaking football player….
Emmanuel Forbes
C Kancy
D Henley
Z Flowers
Sydney Brown
Ji Ayir Brown
Will McDonald
K Benton
T Spears
Brian Branch
JSN
J Gibbs
LVN
Those are all guys that I like a lot if their testing and drill work support what I believe I saw in game day…
Even as a Wolverine, I wouldn’t hesitate to take JSN if he measures and tests well….
I don’t think we need “A” corner, defensive tackle, or any position specifically…. I’d love to have a Fred Warner, a Jeffrey Simmons, a Sauce Gardner, a Tee Higgins, a Patrick Mahomes…. The reason we are getting better fast is because Sewell, ASB, Hutch are becoming those class of guys.
We need more elite players…. regardless of where they play….
