Don’t think Kerby was to surprised by it lol.
My guess is Kerby will have a 2025 Decker season… Zero practice, suit up on game days and try to manage the pain… He’ll be in and out all year and end up on IR… Then he’ll officially retire after the season, still getting his Super Bowl ring

My guess is that it’s as simple as:
The Lions are being more cautious and conservative w/it than Kerby was ready to be. And maybe at the last moment they opted for even more caution than they were leaning toward until then.
Weighed against the certainty some have that he’s “done,” I still take his post as a promising sign. Especially when you consider that he/they can come off the PUP list at any time.

Do we wish the members of the league’s top-safety tandem were healthy?
Do we wish Terrion Arnold hadn’t jacked up his career, could stay healthy, and had realized more of the significant promise a lot of people saw/see in him?
Would it have been nice if Brad had somehow managed to snag an affordable, high-end CB to replace TA while plugging all the holes he managed to plus this offseason?
Yes, yes, and yes.
AND, while I know some will find this thin gruel, I look at this list and find reason for hope. If our guys in the trenches on both sides of the ball can stay healthy and bring it this year, I like our chances of making noise.

What if Lions are doing same with Kerby as they did with the two Lineman last season Then make a injury deal makes everyone happy.
Paschal an Levi I am not sure all the fine print but neither played an i think never counted on cap. Branch i think will just miss 4 games to be sure he is healed . Kerby sits out an they likely save some cap but he will get what ever is guaranteed just helps teams cap . Just a Thought
He can say/post whatever he feels like. I am not going to really get emotionally involved until after the bye. I hope that those saying he is done are incorrect. If I was forced to bet, I would bet with those guys though.
I hope he returns to serviceable. Anything beyond that is a bonus.
