Kerby Joesph is about to step up

I absolutely loved this pick and now due to injuries he should get some playing time.I know there are a couple guys ahead of him in the depth chart but really hope he gets some playing time.Kid has great speed and is always around the ball I have a sneaky suspicion he makes a great play or 2 this week.

He does seem like a true center fielder which is something this team needs. Hope his one year at the position and 5 INTs was sign of things to come.

Kerby and Iffy! Both 3rd rounders drafted by Holmes… this is their opportunity.

Yah. I would have more hope if we were going up against Big Ten qb’s and white bread offenses, but this is the NFL, and even suck teams can confuse a Lions DB without much trouble.

Biggest play of the season, and a Viking running literally wide open with no challenge whatsoever is just the latest example in a run of about 14 out of 19 games of inept defense.

I really liked Kerby as a prospect but based off of the preseason he seemed a ways away from being a viable option.

A lot can happen in a month for a rookie.

Agreed. He seemed green as heck. Which is totally understandable. Back to back high picks on him and Iffy. Both are healthy. Time for then ti grow up real quick.

yeah… we are gonna need to throw them into the fire and hope they don’t get burnt too bad… but the only way to know if they are worth keeping may be “baptism by fire”.

They’re both 3rd round picks… so rip the band aid off.
Sink or swim.

I’d rather take the growing pains that will come with Joseph and iffy than watch a placeholder like Hughes who probably won’t be much better.

Totally fair. Besides it’s not like they’re going all out for wins this year. I get that Coach wants to play the best guy and all that - but this is a great developmental opportunity for the young safeties to grow. With Walkers injury they’re going to need at least one of them to step up next year too

I don’t know enough about Hughes really to know what his ceiling could be. I know that iffy and Joseph offer good size, length and speed. I just want one of them to develop into a good starting safety. Hopefully one that creates turnovers and lines the defense up properly. No more blown coverages.

I hope he does. But there’s probably a reason he hasn’t seen the field yet. Seeing Walker go down makes me even more upset that we took Paschal instead of Jaquan Brisker. Brisker has been quite good so far as a rookie for the Bears. Paschal has been injured since forever.

Well he indeed was named the starter not sure if he will be this week but ended up as the 4th best defender for the Lions on Sunday according to PFF playing 100% of the defensive snaps.

I liked some of the hits that kerby was laying and I like that he was in position against the TE on the first TD. I notice he has some of the insecure body language I see on J okwara so hopefully he continues to develop and gain confidence.

Yeah, it seemed like Kerby was playing decently, though the announcers dumped on him a bit. He looks the part defending deep balls where he’s actually competing to make the interception. He and Rodrigo were rays of sunshine on Sunday.
