Laporta contract talks have ended

I think it’s reasonable for Sam to be annoyed, but I also think Brad’s patience is warranted. Let’s see Sam hold up over the long term this season before opening the wallet. It’s a very reasonable position to take.

Agreed and I really don’t care if his fee fees are hurt tbh. This is a grown ass man making millions of dollars, cry me fuckin river.

If Laporta did not get hurt last year, he would have been extended in the offseason, same with Branch. He wasn’t eligible to be extended until this past offseason and nobody is going to sign a player to an extension coming off a season ending back injury.

Once the injury occurred, the earliest an extensions would get signed is mid season this year, if he can prove he is healthy.

it will get worked out.

Exactly. Why does it have to be anything more than this?

Agree fully.

I want Sam, and he’s worth a top-of-market contract. But paying both SLP and BB may not be in the cards for the Lions. It’s a sucky choice to have to make.

I wouldn’t be shocked if Brad is waiting for something to make the decision for him - one of the guys sucking or getting hurt again. It would stink to sign one guy, watch him get hurt, and then not be able to afford the other.

Goedert/Woolen for Laporta

We get a TE for the rest of the year and improve our secondary Eagles see the season as a lost one after losing Hurts get a TE they will have to sign to a big contract but is younger then Goedert

I already said my piece. If we lose next two games, LaPorta should be traded for draft picks. TE on contending teams are aging - Buffalo, San Fran, New England, KC, ….. All need a young star at TE and the cap room to fit. Get something or he walks for nothing.
