Sure but LaFleur could certainly control the way that he responded to the situation no??
Overall, i get your point but dont sit there and act like his only course of action was to get into an altercation with the fan.
This would be like jamo yelling at packers fans and going at them, everyone would say “he needs to not let them get to him”. But i cant say the same for LaFleur? Cmon
I’m not, you’re the one who is acting like we saw the whole story. I asked , “How do you know he didn’t try that?” Apparently that went right over your head. Unless you know for a fact that what we saw was the entire episode how in the ■■■■ can you make any of the comments you have made? This is NOTHING like what happens on the field between players and fans IN THEIR SEATS. C’mon? LOL, yeah it’s me that is clueless.
My meta point of “you control your own actions” to me makes the rest nonsensical. However, i understand what you are saying and no we dont have the whole story.
My point still comes down to unless the guy was starting a physical altercation with LaFleur and his players he 100% handled it wrong by getting in the guys face and acting like a tough guy. We can agree to disagree but my stance is firm regardless of whether he asked security to intervene etc.
An nfl head coach that is comfortable in his position/self, without the threat of a physical altercation towards his players or staff, shouldnt be getting into a screaming match with the fan…
Also… can we not with this man, we just disagree in how he handled the situation no problem and i never said you were wrong just said there are better ways to handle it all around.
LaFleur’s attitude to me is questionable but my stance and belief in him being a fake tough guy stems from his entire time in green bay not just this incident. To me it is like when schwartz chased harbaugh around the field it doesnt give off a positive image/perception.
To me it"s like nothing I’ve ever seen because it is nothing like anything I’ve ever seen. The guy was there to unfurl the flag. Guess what, you’re fired. If you watch it the only people trying to break it up were…the officials. The officials, so security, someone’s getting some time off for that as well. Your point is that you already didn’t like LaFleur and consider this just to be more of the same from a “fake though guy”. Well, I have no opinion on “fake tough guys” as it has been my experience that if that is who he is it would have caught up to him before now at some point. I saw a guy that was pissed that his players were getting harassed by some asshole that proved he had no business being on the field. It’s also my opinion that there are 30 other NFL coaches that would have not done nothing. Personally, I would have been all over the Lions for allowing it to take place and then taking no action against the guy. You are on the GB sidelines, any chance the asshole was also a “fake tough guy”? I’m done, this looks worse for our organization than it does for LaFleur.
Yep, there are plenty of quotes on line too from people who thought that LaFleur was right. Me, I would have called my guys onto the field and had them stand in front of where the flag comes out. Nobody moves until they remove the asshole. No yelling, screaming or confrontation, just do your job and act like our sideline belongs to us and no ass hat gets to change that.
Why is a Head Coach getting into it with a fan? Like whats the point and why?..a little uptight Matty?
Dude, act like a leader. You got baited and took it hook, line, and sinker…that’s some weak ass shit there.
Fans are that close to NBA guys all the time, when they step out of line, security is notified and they are removed. There have been instances of players and fans getting into it, obviously, but never have I seen this behavior from a coach… They’re supposed to be above that. LaFleur is a clown… He can’t control his own emotions, how can he be in charge of 53 grown ass men?
I have, I was on the field in Pittsburg and spoke with Jerome Bettis on the sidelines pregame. We spoke about his time at ND and wished him good luck in the playoffs. They went on to win the SB that year.
I was given on field passes for that game, by the then director of football operations for the Lions.
Stayed at the same hotel as the Lions, my son got many autographs on his Lions hat and jersey. Unfortunately one of those signatures was from Matt Millen.
I only saw what was posted, but I have to say that LaFluer was acting like the aggressor there. And no excusing the fan’s behavior, nor will I disagree that maybe the security might have been tighter, but LaFluer came off as unhinged. It wasn’t impressive.
