Leonard Floyd released

I’m sure he can get his marijuana anywhere…
so not sure if that impacts his destination.

damn

Was never a fit anyway.

Why?

Smaller than we want our DEs (6’6, 240), can’t set an edge. For us he would have been a SAM and we just re-signed Barnes to do that.

There is a reason he has played on now 5 teams in 10 years at a position that is a premium.

Odd considering Floyd is one of the best at setting the edge!

My complaint with him as a Ram was he dissappeared at times as a push rusher. But we was really good against the run and a great team player by all accounts.

Would be a good fit in Detroit at the right price. The Rams unfortunately paid him like a top tier pass rush guy when he’s not that. Otherwise he wouldn’t have got cut.

Will fit right in in Atlanta.

Morris coached Floyd when he was a Ram. He knows what he’s getting.

Will say Floyd showed up in big moments. Good signing by ATL. Stays healthy and is a good culture guy. He’s just declining at 32 years old.

Not according to 49ers fans. And there are very, very few edge rushers his size who can really hold up at the point. Some are good run defenders, but mostly because they slough OL to get open shots on the tackler.

Wouldn’t put much stock into what Niner fans think.

Floyd at this point in his career probably isn’t what he used to be. But Floyd is more of a edge/run stopper than he was/is a pass rush specialist. He’s a swiss army knife. Does everything well.

But I digress, he has 5 post season sacks and stays healthy. So Lions fans probably wouldn’t like him :upside_down_face:

I actually agree that he’s a good run defender, but it’s in that early Von Miller style, where they get around blocks to make plays at or behind the line of scrimmage. Whenever I watch the play heading his way and he doesn’t slip the block, he’s just like every other 240 pound edge going up against a guy 80 pounds heavier. Sometimes he’s completely washed out. Certainly you almost never see him stand an OL up like Paschal or Levi do.

But I admit the bulk of my watching was when he played in Chicago or SF (nephew’s a Niners fan). Didn’t watch nearly as much of him in LA or Buffalo.

That was my dig at ATL’s pass rush the last fifteen years.

here we are crying, complaining that we got defensive help this offseason , how soon people forget we had a damn MASH unit of injuries in 24, but hey let’s complain that we’re getting some kind of defensive help? OK…
