Grew up a massive Oilers fan when they had Messier. I was always more a Messier fan than the pretty boy who I won’t name.
But yeah Go Oilers Go…
Gotta score early and take the crowd out of the game as much as possible.

A Canadian bashing Gretzky is the equivalent of an American bashing Muhammad Ali or an Argentinian bashing Lionel Messi.
Or an American bashing Christian Pulisic
Or women bashing Lia Thomas… Wait…
That Lia dude can really swim…
Self out
I know, that Tikkanen was a real bastard
I met Wayne Gretzky at the old CJ. Brett’s Bar, in Manhattan Beach, CA, when he was with the Oilers, accompanied with Dave Semnko(Oilers Enforcer), on a March Saturday, when the Oilers were in-town to face the Kings that Saturday nite. Have a matchbook autograph somewhere.
I chatted with him for around 15 minutes. I told him, I wish he wasn’t about to didn’t break Gordie’s Career Goal scoring record ( He sheepishly replied, he still had a ways to go). In reality, Wayne was about 40 goals behind at the time. I continued saying, " Not if you keep playing the Wings!". We both laughed. Backstory: Wayne had scored the most goals against the Wings vs. any other NHL team at that time.
I told Wayne, I used to play in Canada, outside of Windsor, at an indoor rink in Sudbury. His eyes immediately lit up because he grew up playing in the same rink as a kid. I told him, when I played there, the Zamboni Machine was towed by a HORSE !!..True Story. He laughed.
Finally, I told him, I thought I was a decent skater, until I played against Canadien Skaters. He replied, "Don’t feel bad, Hockey is to Canada, like Baseball is to United States guys. We both agreed. Years later, I ran into his wife a few times at a restaurant they both owned on Beverly Glen, when they were living in the Valley, after he got traded to the Kings…Nice guy, a little shy, but very sociable, once he could relate to you as someone, who actually played the game. I had my own outside backyard rink (Lighted), in NW Detroit, near 6 Mile & Grand River in the 60’s. Loved the Old Olympia !!!..What Memories…Original 6 atmosphere ALL SEASON…At Toronto on Sat, CKLW TV. Return game Sunday Nite !!!..With all those crazy Windsor Leaf fans!!..FUN TIMES !!
GO WINGS !!!..Doing all my research for Friday Nite DRAFT !!..
Haha fair. I will say this though. When they traded Gretzky away… the Oilers still won the cup. Then Messier went to the Rangers… won the cup again. The great one won zero cups without the moose
I just loved Messiers game. He’d score a goal, get an assist, make some big hits and win a fight all in the same game.
The announcer cracking me up… “catches him maybe with a little elbow on that one” lol he almost murdered the guy.
Wait…that’s Friday???
LFG!!
I mean I shouldn’t laugh but I can’t help it. Imagine how embarrassed those paramedics must have been. Live TV dropping a star player
How about when QB Matt Corral bashed Gretzky’s kids face?
Hockey is a world sport now. But between the Lightning and the Panthers, enough of the Florida thing, please.
Go Oilers.
I’m pretty excited about a Stanley Cup game 7. I hope it goes to overtime.
I hope the EMS crew has all blood types covered and in ready supply.
I’m nervous…Might have went a little heavy on the pine tree perfume.
