I see a common thread in all these teams and their recurring success on the field.
Synergy - the each have a group of individuals who together, with the right leader, are stronger as a whole than individuals …
I think we are getting a glimpse of this with Bevell …

I think the price has been worth what other teams have spent. Whether it’s worth it for the Lions? I’d like to see what Payton could do with the team, it’s an intriguing thought, and he definitely has experience with turning around a perennial loser.

Okay, here’s a legitimate question. With the Brees era drawing to a close, why not offer the Saints a trade for Payton himself? That’s how the Buccaneers acquired John Gruden, it’s the price Kraft had to pay the Jets for signing Bellichik. Why keep trying to pluck the fruit off the tree in the hopes it sprouts when you can just transplant the tree?
My understanding was that the league banned the practice of “trading for coaches” after the Gruden trade.

According to this article it’s still on the table as of last year…
I made a nearly identical thread on this very subject a week ago. No one seemed too interested in talking about it.
Glad your thread garnered more attention.
Here’s what I had to say on the subject.
