Very interesting point …

That first scramble by Sandals Cunningham … my goodness.

My son once did a high school project and named a fictional shoe company ‘foot fairies’ and I didn’t have the heart to tell him.

One thing I notice there is how much movement Goff has, not just sitting stationary in the pocket. I really do expect a lot more rollouts/bootlegs.

As long as he’s not in an empty backfield on 3rd and 1 literally ever again, I’m good.

■■■■ you, Ben.

This one wasn’t 3rd and 1, but still a pretty high leverage play

And there are a lot more. It’s not always a bad call. Only when it doesn’t work.

It was high leverage in a meaningless game.

Well you did say “literally ever.” Also, while it was technically meaningless, we both know it was a huge game for our development. So did the league, which is why we got KC to start off the next season.

We actually ran out of empty a lot on high leverage plays because Ben and the staff trusted Goff so much. It’s just this one blew up in our faces.

Looks like a great offense for Hendon hooker as well.

I think we’ll absolutely need that 50/50 catch guy if we want to keep this thing going. Jamo would play the Khalid Raymond role but we’d need a chark.

Idk if Tim Patrick is him

I’d have much rather given the ball to Reynolds and had him run like last season on the goal line. I swear he’d have run through a bank vault door with that one.

No idea exactly how important Morton was in 2022? Coach Campbell has been very complimentary of him. Even calling him a superstar when Sean Payton stole him to Denver after 2022.

But Morton has to be in heaven looking at this offensive roster now compared to where it was 2 years ago. Jamaal Williams was breaking td records last time Morton was here and the best tight end was Brock Wright after we traded Hock early in season.

Now Morton gets year 4 Jamo, year 3 LaPorta, year 3 Gibbs and a vet in Monty. Yea that plays.

Sewell and St. Brown are now both more experienced and better too.

I fully expect a lethal offense next year.

Well he didn’t literally mean literally.

Bumping this thread because it’s the main storyline this offseason IMO.

Is Morton the man? Is BJ a product of Dan Campbell? Is @Nate paying me to bump these threads… Not yet

my dirty little hope here is - now seeing this - is our old OC was a benefactor more so than not… more the Cobus than the engine of the train

I watched some Bo Nix highlights to get a feel for what they were doing. I saw a lot of the same formations we used under Ben, which isn’t shocking looking at the Payton - DC - Morton - BenJo tree. And I saw a pretty sweet trick play in there that was reminicent of what we’d dial up. I don’t think we are in for any wholesale changes and frankly, why would we. Maybe a pass on first down occasionally?

That game was not a playoff game, but it certainly wasn’t meaningless.

So……

this video seems to hint that DJ Chark will be back in Detroit?

Except Goff doesn’t like to throw the fifty fifty ball, so contended catch guy would be wasted.

Doesn’t like to or doesn’t have to is really the question. I don’t think any QB wants to rely on throwing that kind of ball but the thing is if your receiver doesn’t have that MO then you don’t want to find out when it matters.

He had a massive 2024…4 catches all season. Lol
