I look at it as a call to action. No matter what happens to end this season, Lions fans need to keep showing up to take over opposing stadiums. As the players have said, everyone expects a loud opposing crowd when going into a road stadium. What teams are not prepared for is going silent count in their own stadium. 2024 Detroit Lions - UNDEFEATED ON THE ROAD!!!
The opponents are set until the end of time. 3 of the opponents are based on divisional standings.
The schedule rotates. Nfc opponents is a 6 year cycle with home and home.
The AFC opponents are on a 8 year cycle.
Meaning the Lions will have almost the same exact schedule in 2049. Aside from the 3 matchups based on standings.
However in 2031 they are likely going to a 18 game schedule. Likely added another cross conference match up. So 4 games will be based on previous year standings.
Well let’s see how they put it together and when is the bye week.
The order matters. The number of Thursday Night games- Sunday Night road game- and Monday night road games really matters.
Those late starting road games are brutal IMO. Throws your whole week off.
For instance, Monday night game on west coast means sleeping on plane and landing around 6-7 am in Detroit most likely. Verses if it is a home game you get to bed a bit late but still on schedule.
So let’s see how they lay it out
And so still think the Lions could play in Germany
Lions are one of the biggest markets in Germany. So DEFINITELY a possibility.
And with 8! International games next year. And only 3 home teams announced, thats still 5 possibilities. (Btw The Lions will NOT be one of the 3 road teams in england)
11 out of 17 games next year are against playoff teams from this year.
King of the pride has to whip the strongest challengers to keep the throne. Just where we want to be. This is what it’s all about.
Seems unlikely the Chiefs game will be international. Apart from the Jaguars, all the international games announced so far the ‘home’ teams haven’t given up a home game since 2017 (Browns, Dolphins) or ever (Jets, Colts). The Chiefs gave up a home game in 2023 so it feels unlikely they would do so again in the next window.
Our other two AFC road games are against the Bengals (who haven’t given up a home game since 2016) and the Steelers who have never given up a home game. The Steelers are also rumored to be playing in Dublin next year, and the Lions would definitely make for a big draw for that game.
