I wonder if they’re going to forgo the WLB spot more this season, fill it with a safety on passing downs and Rodrigo on earlier downs.

I could see them going with more 2LB sets (they NEEED to ) and use Campbell and Barnes in those rolls.
However i would like a better LB3 than Rodrego.

I hate that he’s the other LBer option, he can’t cover… I’d like to see Jack + safeties on 3rd down… Hopefully they cut or rework Barnes’ deal after this season

I know. But as of right now he is their 2nd best LB.

Restructures are agreed when the contract is signed because the only difference it makes to the player is that it brings forward the cash payment of their base salary to whenever the restructure happens rather than being paid after each game week. It’s an automatic thing that doesn’t require any negotiation or involvement by the player. The Lions will just say “hey, Penei, we did the restructure we agreed, here’s $25 million” and Sewell goes “cool, thanks”.

Yes. Expecting the worse.
Even if it stays as is. And he doesn’t get charged but he was still involved obviously in one way or another.
The NFL has free rein to suspend him for code of conduct. Now it will only be 2-4 games but still a suspension.
And Kerby COULD be back week 1. But who knows.
So for right now. Hope for the best, plan for the worst

Great move. Kinda surprised another team did not go after him. But I guess we could top any offer and not have it count towards comp picks.
If you go by PFF grades (I know) last year, we now have safties who ranked:
8th (Maddox), 11th (Harper), 13th (Branch) and 16th (Clark). Clark was actually the number 3 safety against the run.
He hasn’t even been charged… They didn’t suspend Rice for alleged abuse from his ex girlfriend, who actually filed charges.
TA will be playing week 1, mark it down… Even IF the league suspended him (again I’m confident they won’t) it’d take a long investigation before they decided. The court cases don’t even have a trial date yet and the NFL doesn’t do anything until those are wrapped up so they have all the info.
