Assuming McNeill-Penisini are the NTs, Hector’s size and style are similar to Onwuzurike, than either the oft-injured Hand or 31 year old Williams, who may be fighting for the job to back up Brockers. So, maybe Onwuzurike backup or practice squad.
From Justin Rogers at the DetNews:
Claimed off waivers Tuesday afternoon, defensive tackle Bruce Hector joined the Lions for Thursday’s session. Unfortunately for him, he wasn’t able to escape the 40 up-downs coordinator Aaron Glenn had the defensive players perform a day earlier. Surrounded by his new teammates, the 296-pounder labored through them while being cheered on. In fact, most of the players joined him for the final 10 or so.
Dan Campbell on Bruce Hector, who’s played well all summer: “He’s consistent, he’s smart, he’s a workhorse. And it’s hard not to notice. He would be one of those guys that’s going to make it real hard on us if he continues to trend the way he’s trending.”
This is awesome.
